(Jeb's Exploitation of Terri Schiavo Has Backfired)
Once upon a time, busybodies were seen as invasive gossips with bad form. As insufferable nosey neighbors, with an ear to the wall and an eye to the keyhole, they were reviled for making everyone's business their own. Then, the busybodies organized and formed a powerful political lobby. Now, their rotten manners are touted as religious morals and their freakish voyeurism is spun as family values. Nowhere is the rise of the snoop more evident than in the nauseating and utterly revolting exploitation of Terri Schiavo.
Jeb is a wonderful govenor and it is you who is exploiting poor Terri. The abortionists and all those who are against the culture of life are aginst the Lord's word.
I am a regular reader of your pages. Do everybody a favour and just delete those comments from the Bible-worshippers :-)
I must say I don't like the idea of starving Terri to death. But i do not think the lawmakers should intervene and make all new laws based on one case.

Hi Wayne you express yourself richly and intelligently, unlike 'Red' who needs to spend more time with a grammar book instead of a poorly translated English version of the Bible. Red, it's you ARE, not you IS, and AGAINST has another A. Try proofreading before sending. As for the constant demonizing of 'liberals' by the sanctimonious 'christian' hypocrites; if it weren't for liberals women still wouldn't have the right to vote and black people would still be riding in the back of the bus. I heard a lecture once by a scholar of Medieval history and a latinist who defined fundamentalist/evangelical chistianity as "the literal interpretation of a few select passages of a poor translation". What is or isnt 'the Lord's word' if such a thing even really exists, is quite open to interpretation and debate. The mindless parroting and unquestioning obedience to self-appointed 'authorites' is the true threat to America and demoncracy, not 'liberals'! Gary in NJ.

Now, I'm no Bible scholar and I'm not here to trivialize their beliefs, but I find it disappointing. Seeing how irrationalists claim that keeping Terri alive is against God's will, but if I'm not mistaken, wasn't he the one that called for her 15 years ago? -.-.

I wonder if Terri's name was Terry, and if she was a guy married to a Micheal...would there still be all the efforts made by the religious people to keep her alive??
I don't see anyone in the religious organizations saying one word about partners who are together all their lives, who happen to be guys, who happen to love each other. When the partners face any life decisions, like the ones faced by Michael and Terri, no one gets in the newspapers and gets Congress to pass a law protecting them. It seems its only "good" for the man and wife married couple to have that protection, but its not "good" of gay partners want the same protection.
I have been with my partner since 1970. When and if I would ever have to face making a life decision for him, I hope to have all the public outcry that was afforded to Terri, Michael, The Congress, The Press.
Will Congress attend my partner's funeral?
