"Those of us who agree with the authority of Scripture and traditional Christian doctrine cannot condone a practice incompatible with church teaching," whined Cathy Bihler, who left the church.
It is debatable whether God said we can play with our sexual organs, but nowhere in the Bible does it say gays can't play the organ on Sundays. You know you are an anti-gay bigot when having a gay music director makes you so angry you leave the church.
Sometimes
a schism is a good thing. Homophobes bring down spiritual life and confuse hate with holiness. Let them leave the church and find a house of worship where they can handle snakes and say vile things about other people to make themselves feel closer to God.

DeLay Loves Mug Shot: Rep. Tom DeLay was fingerprinted,
photographed and released on $10,000 bond Thursday after turning himself in at the Harris County sheriff's office in downtown Houston. His thug photo did not include booking numbers that usually appear with a mug shot.
"I just may use that photographer for my family Christmas photo," Kevin Madden, a spokesman for Mr. DeLay, said in Washington.
Let's hope stripes don't make DeLay look fat in his next courthouse photo. The arrogance and hubris in his guilty smirk portend a precipitous fall in the coming days.
Noose Tightens For Rove, Libby: The New York Times reports that Karl Rove and I. Lewis Libby have been advised that they may be in serious legal jeopardy. The prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald has begun to narrow the possible charges. Sources say Fitzgerald will not make up his mind about any charges until next week.
FEMA Crony Ignored Desperate Pleas: The Washington Post reports that for 16 critical hours, Federal Emergency Management Agency officials, including former director Michael D. Brown, dismissed urgent eyewitness accounts by FEMA's only staffer in New Orleans that Hurricane Katrina had broken the city's levee system and was causing catastrophic flooding.
Arctic Map Missing: A wall-size map of the tundra
is missing. It had been stored behind a filing cabinet in a locked room in Arlington, Va. Late in 2002, it was there. In early 2003, it vanished. Interestingly, The United States Geological Survey drew up a new map making it easier to open these lands to energy development. Sounds like something slippery is going on.
Has anyone checked Dick Cheney's office?
Ney's Nonsense: Reports say that Rep. Bob Ney of Ohio, chairman of the House Administration Committee, had given preferential treatment to Foxcom, a wireless company with connections to Jack Abramoff, a lobbyist who is under criminal investigation. House minority leader, Nancy Pelosi, is requesting an investigation into these accusations.
How anyone could vote Republican in 2006 is beyond comprehension. If one admits to being a conservative Republican, they are basically saying, "I support corrupt leaders with no morals."

"The Hammer" finally
got nailed for his corruption and sleazy behavior that has degraded Congress and the general state of politics and morality in America. Today, Rep. Tom DeLay turned himself in at the sheriff's office and was fingerprinted, photographed and released on $10,000 bail on conspiracy and money-laundering charges.
Even as he was being fingerprinted, he was pointing fingers, saying the charges are politically motivated. He will have his day in court, and I have a feeling, based on his record, that DeLay should get used to being in "The System". He is a first-rate thug who is bad for America and has done nothing to make this nation a better place.

Harriet Miers turned in
her homework to the Senate Judiciary Committee and both Democratic and Republican leaders gave her an F-. There were so many red marks on the page, that they shoved the embarrassing document back in her face and demanded that she resubmit her work. Various members of the Committee even said they found her responses "inadequate," "insufficient" and "insulting."
At this point, I see no rational reason why anyone would vote for Miers. She's a crony of no legal distinction and it is becoming increasingly clear that she is stridently pro-life. The question now remains why so many leading Neo-Puritans are against her? After all, she has a pro-life record, belongs to a right wing church, thinks Bush is "cool" and is for draconian sodomy laws.
I think comedian Bill Maher is correct when he suggests that it is because they are uncomfortable with the fact that she is unmarried. Conservatives fear this means that she is either a lesbian or asexual. Either way, she did not fulfill her sacred duty to procreate. If she is a lesbian, they reason, she may swing to the left or have a secret gay agenda she will unveil with a lifetime appointment.
We really don't know who Miers is or who she fancies (other than Bush), but there is one label that is beginning to emerge: "Unimpressive."

White House
serpentine snitch Karl Rove told the grand jury in the CIA leak case that I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Vice President Cheney's chief of staff, may have told him that CIA operative Valerie Plame worked for the intelligence agency before her identity was revealed, a source familiar with Rove's account said yesterday.
I love watching these creeps try to worm their way out of the mess they created. We can only hope that Libby and Rove become top advisors to rival prison gangs.

Most of my family lives in South Florida and we are watching Hurricane Wilma very closely. At least we know that Brownie won't be there to screw things up. However, we still have Homeland Security chief Richard Chertoff, the second half of the bad slapstick routine, to "rescue" us.
We also know that George W. Bush and Jeb don't really get along, especially after Jeb almost lost his brother the election in 2000. I'm not convinced that George wouldn't mind his brother sweating through the aftermath of a storm. Our only chance is that Sen. Trent Lott, R-Miss., has a vacation home in Florida. Helping Trent rebuild his porch is the only thing that seems to move George W. Bush to action.

I was reading the newspaper this morning and I could not help but to notice two incongruent stories.
The first was headlined, "Old Ways of Life Are Fading As The Arctic Thaws."
The second story is headlined, "Senate Panel Approves Arctic Drilling".
So, let me get this straight.
Global warming caused by grotesque amounts of energy consumption is visibly melting the ice cap, so our response is to vote for
more oil drilling instead of creating an alternative energy plan. Sometimes I think the the Bush administration is secretly in favor of global warming. Bush and Cheney have always been pawns for the oil and gas industries. We know that up to a quarter of the world's reserves are inaccessible because they are locked in the ice below the polar cap.
The only way to reach the black gold is to to melt the annoying sheet of ice. With the ice gone, Cheney could put the Eskimos to work at new oil refineries. Indeed, if enough ice melts, the pole could become a northern satellite of Texas.
But what about the coastal flooding that will result from global warming? We can see by Bush's response to Katrina how much he cares about land without oil falling into the water. What are a few islands and caostal communities compared with billions of dollars in oil?
All this time we thought Bush was indifferent to global warming, when American policy really may be to actively help melt the ice to reap the bounty of oil that sits beneath.

Liberal radio star Ed Schultz is
steaming after being told that Armed Forces Radio will cancel his show. Schultz says this is retribution for his broadcast last week criticizing the Pentagon over its staged teleconference with President Bush.
This might be news to conservatives, but they don't own the army - they just screw it up. We need an array of voices so our soldiers are informed and can make wise decisions. The last thing we need is for them to only hear Rush Limbaugh, who will tell them to run off a cliff from his comfortable Palm Beach estate. Armed Forces Radio ought to apologize and broadcast The Ed Schultz Show immediately.

Bruce Bartlett, a Republican operative,
was canned on Monday as a senior fellow at the National Center for Policy Analysis, a conservative think tank based in Dallas. In a statement, the organization said the decision was made after Mr. Bartlett supplied its president, John Goodman, with the manuscript of his upcoming book, "The Impostor: How George W. Bush Bankrupted America and Betrayed the Reagan Legacy."
The dimissal of Bartlett is "Exhibit A" of why conservative "ideas" can't be taken seriously and almost always lead to disaster. In most think tanks or universities, free thinking is encouraged. But in conservatives settings, those who deviate from the strict party line are ostracized and fired. Much of this has to do with the grant making process. Right wing foundations tell "researchers" and "thinkers" the results they want, so the job of these "experts" is to fix intelligence to support the point of view paid for by a foundation.
Bartlett had the nerve to stray off course and tell the truth. For this, he was made to pay the consequences. Conservatives want to be taken seriously in academia, but until they learn the difference between scholarship and dollarship, which is selling one's mind to the highest right wing bidder, they will continue to be a laughing stock.

Jornalist Rex Wockner sent out an
interesting story today from a Nigerian newspaper. The report states that a drag queen was arrested by police while trying to meet with Gov. Joshua Dariye.
The 19-year old identified as Benita Amaechi Anatogu and was cuffed after a guard noticed she was a man. Did the Adams apple give her away? Or, was this guard a closeted fan of drag shows? Let us hope the Nigerians don't abuse Anatogu and that they respect her human rights. Although, based on thier increasingly sordid record, I fear for her well being.

On Wednesday Dr. Phil will air a show titled, "I'm Gay, OK?'According to the show's promotion: Sexual orientation used to be something kept hidden from family and co-workers, but now more and more people are coming out and finding acceptance. Anjela says her mother and sister don't support her sexual orientation, and feel she can't be Christian and gay at the same time. Can they ever reconcile this touchy issue? Then, two men debate whether a person can go from gay to straight, and parents of a 4-year-old boy fear their son's desire to play with dolls and wear heels means he'll grow up to be gay. Are they overreacting to his wishes to be a princess instead of a prince?
Let's hope Dr. Phil does a responsible and respectable job and doesn't turn it into an embarrassing daytime freak show. The last thing anyone needs is for gay youth to be exploited for ratings.

Sylvester Stallone has "The Eye of the Tiger", but this time will he be looking through bifocals?
That's right,
Stallone is back for the sixth time in the film "Rocky Balboa". It will be co-produced and co-financed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Columbia Pictures and Revolution Studios and will be distributed by Columbia Pictures.
A better title might be "Rocking Chair Rocky". Who will he fight, Mick Jagger or Tina Turner? While I think he'll lick Mick, I'm placing my bets on Tina.
The upshot: If he gets his head smashed in the ring, he can use the opportunity to get a face lift.

ABC News
announced Monday that Ted Koppel will be replaced on
Nightline by a trio: Martin Bashir, Cynthia McFadden and Terry Moran. They will begin on Nov. 28. Koppel's final broadcast will be on Nov. 22.
We wish Koppel the best of luck. Over the years he has done an amazing job and brought dignity and brains to the news. He is one of a kind.

(Rev. Willie Weirdo)Keith Boykin, president of the gay National Black Justice Coalition, was scheduled to be a speaker this past weekend at the Millions More Movement march, a national rally for African Americans in Washington. According to
The Washington Post, Boykin said he was turned away from the podium after he was double-crossed by the Rev. Willie F. Wilson, the Washington minister who is the march's national executive director.
In negotiations leading up to the event, Wilson reportedly went on a bizarre homophobic tirade. Boykin said Wilson said he was upset about hate mail and bitter calls he had received since he was criticized for delivering a hateful sermon at his Southeast Washington church that described gay sex in graphic and mean-spirited terms. He has since written about an "epidemic" of lesbianism among young black girls. During one meeting, Wilson lost control and went positively bonkers:
Donna Payne, an organizer with the Human Rights Campaign who also attended the meeting, said Wilson... pulled out a book, "The New Joy of Gay Sex," and accused gay leaders of sending it to him. Boykin and Payne said Wilson then grabbed a white plastic bag and pulled out a bottle of sleeping pills and a G-string made from Pez candies strung together. He said black girls use the items to try to turn other girls into lesbians.
Folks, this is abnormal behavior. I have only seen one case like this before. There is a man in a southern state whose high school girlfriend turned out to be a lesbian. After she came out, he stalked her and behaved in much the same manner.
Who knows if this also happened to Wilson. But we do know his reaction and obsession with women turning into lesbians is sick. He is clearly working private issues out on the public stage. This man is a weirdo and a freak and maybe even needs to be committed. Normal straight men simply don't act this way.
Finally, Boykin and HRC's Payne should be applauded for working hard to educate buffoons like Wilson. Thanks for your effort and dedication!

The new rage in college campuses is a drinking game called "beer pong". To play, two teams are created. The members stand at the end of a small table in front of a triangle of cups partially filled with beer. Players throw the ball into the other team's cups. When a player sinks the ball, the other team must inhale the beer and remove the cup from the table. When a side runs out of cups, it loses.
Anheuser-Busch sells beer, so it is marketing its own "Bud Pong" to cash in on the games. Everyone knows this and can accept that the role of a beer company is to make money. Well, except for Anheuser-Busch spokesidiot Francine Katz who tried to obfuscate. She told
The New York Times:
Bud Pong was not intended for underage drinkers because promotions were held in bars, not on campuses. And it does not promote binge drinking, she said, because official rules call for water to be used, not beer. The hope is that those on the sidelines enjoy a Bud.
Are we really supposed to beleive that Bud is promoting drinking games so college kids can drink water? Come on Franny, you sound like you have your mouth hooked up to the funnel.
Personally, I don't like drinking games. They use peer pressure to make students imbibe dangerous amounts of booze. This can lead to alcohol poisoning and death. Strict laws and rules, however, will not stop the games. The best we can do is to be honest and call it what it truly is - a recipe for alcohol abuse. One can only wonder what the Bush twins have to say about this subject. Meanwhile, if W. has another war to sell before he goes back to Texas, he can always hire Franny, who would comfortably fit into the president's spin room.

Employees at the Department of Homeland Security are severely depressed and the most despondent in the entire federal workforce, according to a
new government study of more than 10,000 employees.
- Only 3 percent said they were confident that in their department, personnel decisions were "based on merit." Clearly, this means that Bush cronies are rewarded and more qualified experts are passed up because they didn't clear brush with the President on his ranch or kiss his ass with suck-up greeting cards.
- Fewer than 18 percent said they felt strongly that they were "held accountable for achieving results." This means that as the terrorists are plotting, it is fine for Homeland Security workers to be plodding.
- Just 4 percent said they were sure that "creativity and innovation are rewarded." If there is one thing we know about the terrorists, it is that they are innovative. The only way to beat the "evil doers" is to outthink them. But if smart people with good ideas are not encouraged, they will opt for job security and spend their time bitching about the job at the coffee machine.
- On the question: "How would you rate the overall quality of work done by your workgroup?" only 22 percent of Homeland Security employees answered "very good." This "work" they are referring too, is protecting us from terrorist attacks. So, less than a quarter of Homeland Security workers (no doubt the highly paid cronies) think we are safe. Makes you feel good, doesn't it?
- Only 20 percent strongly agreed, "My work gives me a sense of personal accomplishment." A sense of accomplishment would obviously come from knowing Americans are safe from Osama. I used to laugh at the dumb ass, redneck survivalists. Maybe they aren't so stupid after all. It is clear by the response to this survey that we will be left to fend for ourselves in the event of an attack (or a storm).
- Only 27 percent strongly agreed that "people I work with cooperate to get their job done," and 13 percent strongly agreed, "my job makes good use of my skills and abilities." From my experience, people do not cooperate when they are insecure and don't want their ignorance to be exposed. This goes back to the crony issue. If decisions are not made based on merit, a lot of insecure employees are not cooperating because they can't look their fellow employees in the eyes and explain why they have bungled the job.
In an effort to justify the abysmal results, the Bush administration turned to Homeland Security spin-doctor Russ Knocke.
"I really don't think our employees come to work every day and make the sacrifices they make in their personal lives because they're looking for the kind of workplace environment that is necessarily going to be the easiest or the simplest,” Russ Knocke, the press secretary for the department.
I wonder how Knocke filled out his survey? Having to shove 10 pounds of shit into a five-pound bag can't be good for his morale. Only the Bush administration would try to say that lousy working conditions are necessary for protecting our nation from a second 9-11. Instead of making excuses, how about firing the cronies and rewarding the creative and innovative professionals within the department? This survey is a disgrace and highlights how Bush has made our nation less safe.
