Karl Rove unveiled his despicable demagogic agenda which included a heavy dose of bashing Democrats on national security.
"At the core, we are dealing with two parties that have fundamentally different views on national security," Rove said. "Republicans have a post-9/11 worldview and many Democrats have a pre-9/11 worldview. That doesn't make them unpatriotic -- not at all. But it does make them wrong -- deeply and profoundly and consistently wrong."
Maybe I'm missing something, but the Republicans are in charge and the Homeland Security report card was filled with Ds and Fs. Five years after 9-11 and Osama has more recordings than Madonna in the same time period. Am I wrong, or do we still have to worry about vulnerable chemical plants, nuclear facilities and bombs being placed in commercial airline cargo?

What is Rove smoking? Republicans have been in charge and have done zilch for national security. If anything, the Republicans have put America at increased risk. What is galling, is that these words came from a man who may have outed undercover operative Valerie Plame. There is a word for people who do these sorts of sleazy things: Traitor.

It was bad enough when Bush was listening to our phone calls, but now the administration wants to peep at our Internet searches. Will Bush turn Google into a Snoop Engine?

I can't think of anything less productive than searching Internet records. Anyone with half a brain has searched topics in which he or she disagrees. Indeed, after reading articles about Jihadi websites, I've looked them up myself out of curiosity. Believe me, I had no intention of changing my name to Osama and joining a terrorist camp in Afghanistan. But if this raw data had been collected by the government, might I be a suspect?

Put another way, homophobes love websites with gay content, including this one. Does that make them secretly gay?

Well, yeah.

Perhaps this was a bad example, but you get my main point, that intellectual curiosity will take us to all sorts of places on the web that do not reflect our interests, tastes or values. What we search is not necessarily a reflection of who we are or what we believe. Unless, of course, you keep returning to BigDicks.com. or BigBreasts.com - which confirms the fact you are a a size queen/king. But that is an issue for another day.

The last thing we need is Big Brother watching our private searches. But the US government's demand for millions of Internet search records from Google Inc. and other prominent search firms has alarmed people about the vast amounts of personal information collected by companies.

When did conservatives switch from limited government to unlimited government? Barry Goldwater must be spinning in his grave.

Jeff Gannon, who has a column in The Washington Blade, a super - GAY, GAY, GAY - newspaper, monotonously uses his space week after week to attack "professional homosexuals." Doesn't his column make him a pro-homo?

Now he's upset that a substantial number of his readers believe he is self-loathing. Well, no shit, Jeff! If a columnist for Ebony continuously bashed black folks, people would say the same thing. Sadly, Gannon uses his pen to come to the twisted conclusion that we shouldn't fight for the freedom to marry until all gay people learn to behave and keep their shirts on at bars.
"Perhaps it would be better to direct the considerable creative energy of the gay community at solving the root causes of its own self-destructive nature and away from losing issues like gay marriage. It's hard to project a positive image to the rest of society when your self-image is so poor."
What I find sad about Gannon is he confuses gay bar culture with gay culture. He seems to think because gay people like to have a nice party on Saturday evening, they don't have rich, fulfilling lives the other six days of the week. I suggest he get his self-loathing ass out of the bars and go to a museum, movie, art gallery or buy a good book.

I'm sorry, but there is nothing more obnoxious than a professional queer like Gannon bashing gay culture, even as the Blade writer is up to his hypocritical neck in the very culture he demeans.

I don't mind that the Blade runs his column, since it confirms the cliche: "opinions are like assholes, everybody has one." But it is time Gannon gets a new shtick and expands his horizons beyond expressing his contempt for those who work for liberty and equality.

(Judgmental Judge, Sam Alito)

Folks, I just had an awful dream. Unfortunately, when I woke up, it was reality...

We are about to surrender our Supreme Court to extremists with the confirmation of Sam Alito. If the Democrats don't filibuster (which they won't) the right wing will own the courts. You can kiss gay and abortion rights goodbye. But, you can say hello to unlimited government and imperial executive power.

Alito is a lion in wolves clothing who is pretending to be a sheep. I don't buy his unconvincing "moderate" act for one minute. America is about to make a horrible mistake by confirming this overrated Bush yes-man.

The Human Rights Campaign has said Alito was "the right-wing choice they had been waiting for." Meanwhile, in an ad, the hate-mongering Family Research Council calls Alito "One of us."

Maybe it is time for a rally in front of the Supreme Court? At the very least we can show that the majority of Americans are fearful of losing reasonable access to a reasonable court.

The nightmare is very real. Alito's wife was the first to weep over his nomination. The tears of millions of Americans are guaranteed to follow.

America's queerest "ex-gay" Stephen Bennett is pissed off because Brokeback Mountain and TransAmerica did well at the Golden Globes.
"Conservatives and middle America are frankly sick of having the homosexual agenda continually shoved down our throats by the media."
What we are witnessing is a frightened man who is acting out because he feels threatened by these movies. He is afraid that he may leave his wife after seeing Brokeback and shove 7 inches of the homosexual agenda down his throat. It seems to me that that this clown is protesting a bit too much. If his "cure" is so weak, maybe it doesn't work at all?

It is time Stephen Bennett stops projecting his own fears onto Hollywood. If he doesn't want to see these movies - he should stay home. But, then again, the issue might be that he desperately wants to see them - even more than he wants to see his wife.

Bennett isn't the only so-called ex-gay in a tizzy. Alan Chambers, the queen who runs Exodus International, is also afraid Hollywood may convince him to go astray. And the American Family Association is afraid that men may leave their wives in droves if the gay movies keep coming.

With thousands of hetero love stories, how can a few movies with gay content cause these right wingers to want to go down on a guy? It makes absolutely no sense to me. Would someone on the far right please explain this? Help me out here, will you?

New York Knicks forward Antonio Davis climbed into the stands out of concern for his wife and was ejected without further trouble Wednesday night during the Chicago Bulls' 106-104 overtime victory against New York.
"I witnessed my wife being threatened by a man that I learned later to be intoxicated," Davis said in a statement issued after the game. "I saw him touch her, and I know I should not have acted the way I did, but I would have felt terrible if I didn't react. There was no time to call security. It happened too quickly."
Davis ascended about 10 rows of seats to reach his wife in the stands. There was no physical confrontation after he got there, but several people were pointing and shouting for a few moments before security arrived.

Look, Davis should not be suspended. Fans have no right to harass the family of players. The obnoxious, drunken sot went too far and earned an ass-kicking by Davis. He was fortunate that Davis held his cool.

I've been to many games where fans get out of hand. The price of admission does not give one the right to be abusive or threaten people. All I can say about Davis is that he is a damn good husband.

According to reports, Kennedy, now 73, begged lover Caroline Bilodeau to have an abortion, then paid her to keep quiet when she refused. The jury is still out on this, and this could be tabloid trash. But, I suppose we will soon find out. I'm a bit surprised by the possible scandal, as these sorts of things are usually reserved for hypocritical right wing republicans.

(This Man Had A Good Shave)

If you shave, like I do, you have often wondered how many blades are enough? I use the Mach 3, but now they have The Schick Quattro and the upcoming Big Daddy razor, The Gillette Fusion, with five blades. If you cut yourself with this razor, is it suicide???

My friend Nick "Razor" Burns wrote about the multi-blade conundrum in the today's New York Times . I do hope they perfect the razor, because I am tired of cutting myself. I recently went ot a National Lesbian and Gay Journalist's Association holiday party and cut myself beforehand. I bled the entire time. At least I made an impression (though not the one I wanted).

So, for the sake of us all - I hope one of these designer razors actually works - and serves a purpose other than making these companies more money.

Congressional Democrats finally laid out a plan to change what they called a GOP "culture of corruption" in Washington. They stood in front of a large sign that read: "Honest Leadership, Open Government."

This is a winning slogan and I think the Democrats are onto something, although I suggested this in a column several months ago. Of course, that is why readership of this site is growing so quickly, because people can see innovative ideas from me or my smart readers in the comments section months before they make it onto the national stage.

In another wise move, the Dems look like they are gearing up to vote against Alito - who will hopelessly move the Supreme Court to the right.

And, I'm sorry, I'm sick of hearing how "smart" Alito is. He is nothing more than a trained monkey who has the ability to memorize documents. Has this "yes-man" ever had an original thought in his life? Has he ever issued an opinion of importance? Has he ever made America rethink the law? What has he done - other than get good grades - that makes him worthy of serving on the court? In my book, he's terribly overrated and unworthy of confirmation. How about getting a real thinker on the court, or might that intimidate Bush?

A new brain-scanning study suggests that when guys see a cheater get a mild electric shock, they don't feel his pain much at all. In fact, they rather enjoy it. In contrast, women's brains showed they do empathize with the cheater's pain and don't get a kick out it.

The Supreme Court removed an obstacle on Tuesday to state efforts to authorize physician-assisted suicide, ruling 6 to 3 that John Ashcroft, the former attorney general, acted without legal authority when he threw the federal government's weight against the Death With Dignity Act in Oregon five years ago.

Chief Justice John Roberts, however, sided with Thomas and Scalia in the minority opinion that the federal government can override states rights and knows more than a doctor and his patient. If Alito were on the court, the margin of victory would have only been 5-4.

The problem is, people lile Scalia, Thomas, Roberts and Alito are not true limited government conservatives, in the traditional sense. They are "unlimited government" conservative. These folks are snoops who believe the federal government is almost a dictatorship that can control every aspect of life from cradle to grave.

After all, if a person doesn't have the right to die with dignity, is this still a free country? If dying with dignity is against your authoritarian religion, than die in pain in the name of God. But for normal, thinking Americans, leave us the hell alone and let us decide with our private doctors.

This case proves that Alito must be filibustered. America's High Court can't continue to veer any more to the right.
