According to reports, authorities in Tennessee have begun a child abuse investigation of Refuge, a Memphis boot camp run by Love In Action Ministries, to "cure" teenage homosexuals.
Although the boot camp presents itself like a certified counseling group, Love in Action is not licensed by the Tennessee Departments of Health, Mental Health, Human Services, Child Services or Education, according to Rachel Lassiter of Gov. Phil Bredesen's communications office.
Time to lock the doors and close down this destructive dump.

These SOB's need to be investigated. How many lives have they ruined?
As an ex-ex-gay, I can tell you first hand that these groups are a fraud. Alan Chambers and John Smid should be imprisoned for torture and fraud. They are scam artists who don't care how many people they hurt or how many people the cause to commit suicide. Fuck em. They almost ruined my life. Yes, I sound bitter. But I should I wasted 12 years of my life on this garbage. People simply can't change.
Jeremy thanks for the post, you are so right these people are total frauds, criminals actually. People simply can't change and why should they? It is so sad that Chambers and Smid have bought the garbage that continues to stigmatize gays and lesbians and they perpetuate it. This fraud needs to be stopped and those people conducting it, charged. This really is little to do with religious freedom, it is about control. Tim W

It seems to me that attention should be brought to the connections between these people and Warren Throckmorton AND Focus on The Family. That link, in my opinion, is one crucial way to shed some light on the real policies of people like James Dobson.

I seem to recall "20\20" doing a story about LIA and the "ex gay" movement back around 1990 or '91... the reporter John Stossel actually interviewed a couple of LIA resident's "in change" I remember the story was not at all flattering to this cult, I think it's time for Stossel and "20\20" to revist this story!
