On Sunday, Gov. Rick Perry took the unusual step of signing two awful bills at a church, the Calvary Christian Academy. In a failed attempt to avoid breaching the separation of church and state, Perry signed an anti-gay bill and a anti-choice bill in the church's gymnasium instead of the chapel. He also included "House Jew" Rabbi David Stone of the Beth Yeshua Messianic Jewish Congregation in Fort Worth, to offer the veneer of pluralism. It is amazing how the right finds "ex-gays", or Alan Keyes types or House Jews like Rabbi Stone to carry their water. How sick, sad, and tragic. The New York Times wrote about the sickening event:
He [Rick Perry] also said he was putting his signature - although it was not required - on a measure that places a proposed constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages before Texas voters on Nov. 8. "Activist judges have used the bench to advance a narrow agenda," the governor said, adding that the measure defining marriage as a sacred bond between a man and a woman "places it beyond the reach of activist judges."
The Family Research Council's Tony Perkins was at the event, as well as the American Family Association's Don Wildmon. It is clear that in Texas, under Perry, the Church is the state. Would someone in Texas please have the guts to start a petition drive to impeach the clown. He has clearly breached his oath of office, as well as failed to deliver education. The tax exempt status of Calvary Christian Academy also needs to be revoked. I'm sure there are many taxpayers that don't want to subsidize their hateful agenda.

Perry is a fucking Nazi. People need to watchout for these religios zealots before they drive this nation into the dirt. They are sick bastards and a threat to America.

How about that House Jew. What a disgrace to my religion. His orthodox ass will be the first one they take to the camps, while secular Jews like me can more easily fit in. How do they find these insane creeps?
an answer to David of Houston's question: i think all that oil down there is seeping into the drinking water--either that or they all have mad cow disease. :-O

Indeed, very sad and all those present can hang their heads in collective shame and go down in history as writing their fellow citizens out of the state constitution. Also, their are unsubstantiated rumours floating about Mr. Perry's sexual endevours, hopefully, someone exposes this despicable person. It is so mind numbingly unbelievable that those working against us are one of us or are very deeply closeted, see Ken Mehlman's meet the press fiasco of Sunday. How sick, sad and incredibly insulting to not only gays but also humanity. Shamefull is putting this travesty mildly. Tim W.

I agree Perry needs to be impeached, and there are enough high crimes and misdemeanors he has committed to make this happen. To name a few: his proposal to build the Trans-Texas Corridor, which practically erase any private property rights, and the proposed contractor’s investments can be traced back to Perry himself; Perry’s executive order giving fast track permitting of several power plants across Texas which uses old-style, high sulfur coal technology – an obvious payback for the $300K in campaign donations from the TXU and Reliant Energy lobby; or Perry’s continued demonstration of theocratic law and assault upon the 1st Amendment by promoting anti-gay legislation in the form of unconstitutional state amendments. I encourage everyone reading this to contact their state representatives and demand to start the impeachment proceedings ASAP. In addition, if anyone can make it to the inaugural ball this week (Jan 16, 2007), please be sure to bring your signs and protest this event and get the message out.
