Cuban Americans have added to this nation culturally, socially and economically. However, on the political front, as a group, they have consistently made poor choices. Since the failed Bay of Pigs invasion, they have solidly voted Republican. Their ill-conceived voting pattern helped put Bush in the White House - twice - by helping swing Florida to the Republicans.
What have they ever gotten in return for their loyalty? Not only have they put in power a party hostile to minorities, the Republicans have given them nothing but lip service on Fidel Castro.
Indeed, the U.S. ventured several thousand miles, according to Bush, to arrest a brutal dictator and bring freedom to the Iraqi people. Yet, there is an oppressive dictator only 90 miles south of Key West that thumbs his nose at freedom. Under Bush's rationale, where was our invasion of Cuba? Don't hold your breath, unless Castro discovers oil.
The fact is, Cuban voters keep reliably handing Republicans Florida and getting nothing in return. Has ever a group been so used by a political party in American history? It is time for Cuban Americans to admit that they have bet on the wrong horse for far too long and join the Democratic party, where at least they will get more than empty pandering and meaningless rhetoric on Castro.
Like the Cuban exiles, I too want Castro eliminated. However, the Republican Party has not gotten the job done. It it time to wake up to this reality and move on.
4 Comments:
I assume a lot of the support for the GOP from Cubans is that they tend to be fairly religious and have fallen for the right-wing propaganda that the right is doing the 'work of the Lord' on earth. I guess that's true if you think 'the Lord' is a greedy divisive hate monger who doesnt give a shit about the poor, the environment, or powerless minorities. The GOP will show their true colors after Castro croaks, they will turn Cuba once again into a vacation mecca where the natives will work for slave wages at resorts owned and patronized by wealthy, over-weight, white Americans. Consuela, fetch Mrs. Bush another rum and coke and a pack of Marlboros, and if you move your lazy ass, we might tip you more than a peso.

So if an overweight person wants to implement diet pills a weight loss plan, then they need to know two vital numbers before they start:
1) The number of calories needed daily to maintain a fixed weight level - in other words the number of calories used up each day.
2) The number of pounds (or kilos ) to be reduced weekly to achieve a certain weight level. A pound per week would be adequate - so to reduce by 10 pounds would take 10 weeks. Anything greater than a pound per week should only be done in consultation with a health care professional.

The easiest way to reach the figure is firstly reduce the total amount of calories consumed by 250 calories. Then use up the other 250 calories lida in extra physical activity.
Or by eliminating a cake, pastry or chocolate bar , all of which contain 250 calories, AND use up the other 250 calories by going for a walk for about 45 minutes.
It's relatively easy to set up and start a weight control plan. All it needs is the will to achieve a desired outcome and the vision to realize the difference this will make leisure slimming coffee to a person's life.
