It is the 21st Century and the cover of Time Magazine has pictures of a chimpanzee and God under the bold headline, "Evolution Wars". I turn on the television and a non-descript talking head is promoting the bizarre idea that tax cuts for the rich lead to increased tax revenue. I flip the channel and an effeminate man is lisping about how he prayed away the gay.
How did such weird and scientifically bankrupt ideas find their way into mainstream culture? The answer is at once simple and scary.
Simple. What the so called religious right is being using is an old tactic that many people is still not aware of: Methodology for interpretation.
How someone who only knows the Latin alphabet read chinese or Japanese? well, if one try to explain both, the religious idea behind evolution against the scientific, using, only theology, references of the Bible (that by itself doesn't constitute theology) and, let's say, Biology, the result will be Nothing!
The believers can say whatever they want, but trying to impose their views, ignoring scientific facts, shouldn't even be considered for discussion, since one have to be very ignorant no to tell the difference.
In that sense, that is why the majority of so called "religios people" of the right wing (I am a proud Left winger religious person) are highly ignorant and lazy people.
The right wingers know it, but don't say anything, because some people confunse Fear of God with ignorance... I think that is pure evil.
