In Bush's feckless speech, it seems he wants to solve the problem he helped create in New Orleans by spending a small fortune, bringing in more troops and funneling more faith based money to churches that support his right wing agenda.

The problem is, we have no money and no troops to send. If we had a surplus of money and men, we'd be doing a little better in Iraq. Basically, because Bush screwed up, he is going to spend freely and pass on the deficit to our children and grandchildren. He had no rainy day fund, so now that the rains literally came, he is going to soak taxpayers. Having failed at responsibly governing, Bush wants to set things right by more irresponsible spending.

He also can't seem to help rewarding his friends. Every other sentence he mentioned funneling money to churches. What he is really doing is buying off black preachers so they won't criticize him. This administration has no shame, and this poorly executed speech only confirms how clueless the Bush administration truly is.

I agree, that chimp gave an awful speech. How the hell did we re-elect him? It is one of the great mysteries that I will never figure out.

How can the state of a secular country give money to churches? That makes no sense to me.

Larry and Willie: its called the dumbing down of America, not once, but twice based on fear and intimidation by the religious right loonies. They say things go in threes, hopefully not, but they'll probably give us yet another moron to wreak four more years of damage. Our democratic quasi leaders are weak and not prepared to take them on by speaking up on civil rights issues at the national level, ever. We're in bad shape whichever party wins, though I suppose a democrat is probably a little bit less than the worst of two evils. Its ironic that we'll all probably get behind a democrat for president but that candidate probably will not support same-sex marriage.Their careers are more important to them than our rights, just look at what Kerry did, stabbed us in the backs. They cater overwhelmingly to their centrist and conservative consituents first, just as girlie man did last week by refusing to sign our rights into law. The rest of them are no different with the only exception of Barney Frank.

I'm sure you perceived the painful, obviously uncomfortable way that our great leader "took responsibility" for the failure of the federal govt. in his speach. His squirmimg body language said more than words can express. He could not even look us in the eye!
