This may be politically incorrect, but I'm having serious qualms about writing a check for Hurricane relief. The way I see it, I already gave my fair share for the effort on April 15. This is Tax Day, the painful moment where we surrender a large chunk of our hard earned change to the federal government, so they can fix levees and plan for national emergencies.
President George W. Bush, however, decided to squander this money on tax breaks for Cappuccino Conservatives and attacking a nation in the name of 9-11 that had nothing to do with the terrorist attacks. Make no mistake about it, this is not charity, this is a backdoor tax and the privatization of disaster relief. Americans are reaching into their wallets to write checks to generously pay for what the federal government should have unquestionably funded in the first place.
You liberals are at fault for this disaster. Correct me here, but didn't black Democrats control the city of New Orleans?
Those people didn't do the job and should be fired. Bush and Chertoff did all they could. This was a hurricane, not a mere windstorm. God unleashed his fury on Sin City and the liberals expect it to be cleaned up in a day? Please...
Not everybody gay agrees with you. Just because you hate Bush is no reason to blame everything on him. Why can't we gays be fair and take the high road? Sometimes being more informed about whats really going can work in our favor. Something went wrong in New Orleans but it wasn't Bush. I have to admit though Barb Bush should have stayed at the ranch.

Zack and bl are full of shit! It was bush who slashed the funding for the levee improvements after the real experts predicted that this would happen and begged for the money since before 2003. And FEMA is a joke, bush appointed his totally incompetant cronies as usual 'brownie' and removed it from a cabinet level position which clinton had wisely made it and put it under the ineffective burocratic mish-mash of Homeland Security. And as for your twisted religious beliefs in a vengeful God, I dare say that most of the black people who suffered and died were much more religious and Christian than many of those well-heeled white "sinners" who escaped. Try cracking open a science book for once in your life. Gary (NJ)

Republicans are best at playing the blame game. Taking the high road has gotten tire-tracks on our backs. I've tried the high-road.
The effects of this disaster would have been less deadly had someone actually been on the ball.
If I recall, Scotty McClellan said that the buck stops at the President. FEMA failed - right at the start of Disaster Awareness Month. HEL-LO? Impeach Shrub and his entire administration!!!!!!!!

I believe there is enough blame to go around. My reading of the NO disaster plan from the web revealed that the local government failed to enact the plan properly. The state government did not act according to the plan either. The federal government too showed its incompetence in its response.
All and all, a screwup from top to bottom to top. Republicans and Democrats showing their true abilities and talents. Bureaucracy at its finest...
