When cowardly decision are made, no one is ever happy. This is why both the right and the left are attacking Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger today for vetoing a freedom to marry bill in California. The stunt man/actor capitulated to the darker side of human nature and sided with those who would deny GLBT people equality.
He did sign a few pro-gay bills yesterday, but who really gives a damn. He had his chance to erase real barriers and failed. Instead of placing all Californians under one set of laws that apply to everyone equally, he perpetuated a system that sets different laws for different people. For this, history will judge him harshly.

Arnold is a biggot, but what can you expect from a man comming from a Nazi country like Austria?
We need to wake up and encourage all the people who doesn't vote to vote. We need to educate the ignorant about the damage made by the right wing. We need to educate the poor about the importance to vote for justice, rather than allowing the Republicans to continue lying to the ignorant people.
Last night, PBS aired a documentary about the 60's and it was very sad to see that younger generations, born in the 70's and 80's have been lied to about how the right wing have been destroying America.
Intelectuals, Gays and Lesbians, Democrats, Immigrants and poor people need to learn about the dangers of Neoconservatism, and how this cancer can destroy everyone. The rule of law will prevail if everyone vote!

This action is unbelievable and truly unforgiveable. With a golden opportunity to recognize HIS citizens as equal under the law and he blows it? Now that he has betrayed a significant portion of California's population, will the KKK fundamentalist shitbags be enough to ensure him an election victory? I doubt it, his political goose is cooked.

There are two things I can't stand: people who are intolerant of other cultures, and the Dutch-- Nigel Powers
Just to bash my head against a brick wall again- the California legislature does not have the constitutional authority to overturn a referendum. That's why Arnold said the issue had to be decided by either the courts overturning the referendum as unconstitutional or the people passing another referendum. Maybe it would have been nice for him to make a symbolic gesture like Newsom did, but any marriages under that law would have been annulled by the courts.
