In a BBC broadcast airing tonight, the Palestinian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister are quoted as saying that they were in a meeting with the president in June 2003, and Bush said to them:
"God told me, 'George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan,' and I did," and then "God told me, 'George go and end the tyranny in the Iraq'" and so forth and so on?"
White House spokesman Scott McClellan denied the allegations calling them "absurd". Let us hope that McClellan is telling the truth. If Bush is starting wars and killing tens of thousands of people, including nearly 2,000 American troops, based on an egotistical God-trip, he must be impeached. The United States needs a leader who is rational and doesn't make poor decisions based on voices or visions that come from his own tiny brain, yet are ascribed to God.
If Bush went to war in Iraq based on a conversation with God, then what if God tells him tomorrow to nuke North Korea? How many people must die for Bush's delusions of grandeur? Can America afford to have a president who has cast himself in the role of God's latest prophet?
This is an issue that must be further explored, perhaps by a Congressional Committee. The most powerful nation in world history can't be guided by a fanatical zealot who ignores reality and makes deadly decisions based on superstition.

History is full of these tyrants who murder in the name of religion; just what kind of a God would talk to that coked out drunk anyway? Bush is just the latest in a long sad tale of delusions of grandeur and the devastation they leave in their wake. I hope that same God is telling people to vote DEMOCRATIC in 06 and 08!!! Gary (NJ)

Where has everyone since 911? This isn't the first claim by W that God speaks directly to him or that he was "called upon" by God to lead the American people. McClennan's denials don't mean a hill of squat.
I can just see W - leaning way in and speaking very slow and loud ... while explaining thats what "God told him"! He's a nut job and if you watch his news conferences - his coke jaw twitch is getting worse!
Oh Puleeeeze Now you know Bush is screwd up!! It wasn't God who told him to go to war IT WAS THE DEVIL made him do it!!! God spreads Love,compassion and understanding!! It's the Devil that spreads Hate, and Lies, And creates War Mongers, who later, rather than sooner, get their Just Desserts!!
