After causing a late-term abortion of the Miers nomination, the right wing is demanding that Bush choose a radical right wing nut for the Supreme Court. If the president doesn't act like a puppet and follow their explicit marching orders, the right is threatening to pick up their marbles and go home. Here are a few quotes from The New York Times:
Paul Weyrich, Free Congress Foundation "If we don't get a good nominee - if it's somebody else who is a stealth candidate, and we don't know what their judicial philosophy is - well then that will be the end of the Bush coalition."
William Kristol, Editor, The Weekly Standard "To the degree that Bush was enamored of a stealth strategy, I have got to believe he has learned there is a real downside."
Gary Bauer, Right Wing Leader "I am hopeful that the one thing that they may have learned from all of this is that if you are going to be in a fight in Washington, it is best to fight with your political opponents and not your friends."
James Dobson, Focus on the Family "I would hope that we would not have to go through yet another agonizing period where undisclosed facts are leaking out and alarming us."
Folks, I turned out to be dead on in my column where I said that if either Richard Land or James Dobson pulled their support from Harriet Miers, she was doomed. In the New York Times, Dobson said that he was going to pull his support from Miers, after it was discovered that she might not be a right wing lunatic. It is scary to think that Dobson had veto power over a Supreme Court nominee, but it appears it may be true.

Looks like we are going to get a Nazi on the Court. We are screwed!
Now that Samuel Alito has been given the nod by Bush, our fate will be sealed. This man is an arch homophobe and anti-womens' right to choose, among other things. Forget about our civil rights now that the fundies are controlling the White House.
Puzzling isn't it that the only opinions that seem to matter in a supreme court nominee are the right wing religious cults. What about the rest of the country, or do Dobson, Bauer and the like run the country? Sure seems that way.

There IS no more separation of church and state in this pathetic mindless country of sheep. The Dems should filibuster or walk out if the fascist right uses the nuclear option. Revolution now and in 06 and 08!!!!
