Andre Boisclair is the sexy openly gay frontrunner in the race to lead Quebec's separatist party, Parti Quebecois. His candicay looked like it might have been doomed after he recently admitted cocaine use while serving in the provincial parliament.
"What I want to tell you is that I made mistakes, things I regret. Yes, I consumed. I can't be clearer than that."
Incredibly, this confession did not sink Boisclair. A poll by the Montreal Gazette said he actually gained 11 points the day after he admitted the drug use.
This gives an entirely new meaning to a "bump" in the polls. If coke gave him 11 points, just imagine what heroin could do!
2 Comments:
True, but his opponents in the PQ leadership race started to blast him about his cocaine use and he is now slipping in the polls, ahead of second-runner Pauline Marois by only a slim margin. Unlike the more experienced former Finance minister, Boisclair has a right-ring platform. Unless he wins on the first ballot, either of the two can win.

I think there may have been a jump in the polls for him after the confession because honesty from a politician is so refreshing that the public rewards them. This is why Clinton looked like such as ass when he said he "didnt inhale". And it's obviously a lesson that the republicans in DC have yet to learn. The more they try to cover-up, obfuscate and hide their dirty doings, the worse public opinion of them becomes (which, of course, is a good thing!) Gary (NJ)
