The Washington Post reports that the scoundrels in the GOP are fighting over who should be in charge, now that so many Republicans are tied to sleazy lobbyist Jack Abramhoff. Personally, I think they should all step down because they have hurt this nation. This is a group that has crusaded on a platform of morals and values, yet, has proven to be less than ethical.
Once Abramhoff starts naming names, we may get a rare glimpse into the scumbaggery of the GOP. If you don't think the former lobbying king is going to exact a pound of flesh, just check out his new style. He looks like The Godfather. There will be more than one political career "sleeping with the fishes" before Abramhoff is done.

You liberals wish you could bring down the Republicans. The problem is, the American people like the job they are doing. They are IN FAVOR of MORALS!!
LOL Jude in Florida, You are seen the storm and still deny is raining!
Why the conservatives love to be in denial? Why can't you people recognize right from wrong...? face it, the crusade for "moral vlaues" as you people call anything that sounds even remotely to sexuality is been just a smoke screen to hide your true evil nature: you people are against human rights, equal rights, women's rights... etc.
Do you want to know what is inmoral? Attacking the right of abotrion is inmoral, attacking Gay and Lesbain rights is inmoral, Tom Delay, Abramoff, and all the mafia behind them is immoral, Par Roberson is Immoral, abstinence only is immoral, inteligent design is immoral... any more ideas?
Hey Jude, we dont have to bring them down, they're doing a bang-up job of it themselves. And has anyone noticed that Aby is wearing body armor when he's out in public. He knows what murderous thugs he's dealing with and that the bush crime family would love to take him out (and I dont mean for hot wings). By the way, the right is spinning this, that the Dems are involved in the corruption also. Not true! A number of Abramoff's CLIENTS have given money to Dems, which is legal. Aby ONLY gave money DIRECTLY to republicans, which was illegal. This doesnt mean that the Dems are free from ethical taint, but what they did was not illegal. What Aby and his beneficiaries did WAS! There has to be an awful lot of hand wringing going on in our Nations Capitol this week. After reading the history of Abramoff and his counterparts its clear they have been a major component involved the feeding of the GOP machinery currently in power.
Even the Whitehouse is reporting that they are donating $6K to charity that came from Abramoff - and whats even more disturbing is that Abramoff enjoyed *Pioneer* level access to BushCo (to achieve Pioneer status a min of $100K had to be contributed to the campaign coffers).
For me this story goes to the heart of the biggest hurdle *We the People* face in keeping our government true to its original design. Since the folks who make the laws are constantly awash in the never ending flow of *special interest* money ... there seems to be little hope for this ever truly being resolved.
It will take monumental change and Leadership of a caliber I've not seen in my Lifetime (from any of my elected leaders) to find a way to once and for all bite the bullet and effectively put an end to special interest--corporate--foreign interest money that always ends up usurping the Power from the People.
I'd like to see a system that limits the amount of money that can be spent on campaigns for instance - look at the amount of money that was spent on the Mayoral election in the city of NY -- so this isn't just a national/federal problem.
Although this Abramoff scandal appears to have the makings of a historic house-cleaning on Capitol Hill ... which is never a bad thing for *We People*.
Hmmmm...Bill Clinton was selling access to the Lincoln Bedroom yet right now we're focusing on the Abramoff scandal.
Be careful what you wish for as this unfolds, because there may be people who get hurt whom you wish wouldn't (i.e. democrats).

-- I'm sorry Anonymous but I strongly disagree with your ascertion.
Public officials that *sell* out to the highest bidder ... regardless of Party affiliation have betrayed their oaths of office and the public trust.
Those that get swept up in this or any other scandal should be held accountable and be made to answer for their betrayal.
