The Washington Post has a really good article laying out the stakes and landscape for the midterm elections. It is worth reading:
Not since 1994 has the party in power --in this case the Republicans --faced such a discouraging landscape in a midterm election. President Bush is weaker than he was just a year ago, a majority of voters in recent polls have signaled their desire for a change in direction, and Democrats outpoll Republicans on which party voters think is more capable of handling the country's biggest problems.

Wasn't it just last week when we learned that the DNC has something like only $5 million available right now?

I dont know what the figure is, but i recently heard on the radio that the Dems actually have raised MORE money to date than the repukelicans (the first time in a very long while)--also groups like moveon.org are raising money for the nov elections to help progressive candidates. This probably wont show up as being in the Dems coffers.

If anyone thinks Dems can retake Congress, then it's obvious they haven't heard of Diebold and ES&S.

True, but moveon.org is having a grassroots movement to get people to lobby for voting reform on the local level (paper trails) as the republican congress will do NOTHING to get fair elections nationally.

If things deteriorate even more in Iraq, more soldiers killed, then maybe the Dems can succeed.
