(Gay Greg wants to ban all things gay, so he won't leave his wife and adopt a kid with a man)
Social conservatives in at least 16 states are pushing for state laws or constitutional amendments banning homosexuals from adopting. Obviously, this is happening in an election year where the GOP has nothing positive to talk about in regards to their record. They can't talk about the war on terror or Iraq. They can't talk about the deficit. They can't talk about Katrina. So, they are hoping to distract voters with gay bashing.
"Now that we've defined what marriage is, we need to take that further and say children deserve to be in that relationship," said super queeny 'ex-gay' Greg Quinlan of the Pro-Family Network in Ohio, one of the states on the list.
While the extremist are launching this cruel war on vulnerable children, the experts say gay people can make great parents. The American Academy of Pediatrics, the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) and adoption advocacy groups cite research that children with gay or lesbian parents fare as well as those raised in families with a mother and a father.
Sadly, there are about 520,000 children in foster care, according to the North American Council on Adoptable Children in St. Paul. Of those, 120,000 are available for adoption, but only 50,000 find permanent homes each year. Clearly, many children can't find homes, yet the right wing would rather have these poor young souls rot in the orphanage. They care more about dogma than actually helping children. It tells you a lot about their "values."
"The child welfare system is already in crisis," said Rob Woronoff of the CWLA told USA Today. "We don't have enough families as it is."
We must fight this cynical election year maneuver by the fundamentalists who are willing to trample on children to achieve their sick dream of a puritanical America.

Hahahha - That lisping sissy is an ex-gay? His wife is stupid enough to buy that lie? She must have an IQ of 6.
This bullshit once again plays into the canard that gays are child molesters and the same dumb fucks who voted for bush the last time will fall for this smear campaign yet again. Also, i saw recently on a tv show that there was a study done that showed that children raised by lesbian mothers scored HIGHER on psychological health tests than kids from 'traditional families' did. Yes I heard of a similar study which found that gays are actually "better" parents on average than heterosexuals. I think the researcher surmised that this was true because gay people actually had to make a dedicated effort to have a child, therefore making the child wanted.
I think it's time we all get together and start collecting signatures for ballot measures which would prohibit fundamentalists from adopting children. You have to fight fire with fire. This homophobic absurdity has gone on far too long. And I agree with Gary, the dumb hicks who voted for Bush will buy into the homophobia without a second thought. Er, I mean first thought.

If they want to insure that all children are in married households, does this mean they are going to go after single parents next?
Don't think they won't. As a single dad I guess I have been attuned to the anti-single parent policies (and especially anti single father policies) of the supposedly pro-family nazis. In their churches, they say they love single parents and want to "minister" to them but their actions and policies are much different.
When they "ended the marriage penalty" they created a tax system that greatly discriminates against single parents. And they certainly didn't believe in the sacredness of the parent child relationship in Elian Gonzales' case.
I don't see them going into single parent homes and taking kids out yet, but I don't think they are too far off from preventing any single parent from adopting.

Just when you thought these "religous" groups have sunk as low on the humanity scale that they could possible go, it is surpassed. Story after story comes out of children neglected, abandoned, abused and murdered by "traditional" families, such as the Dollars in Florida a few months back. Not one story of a similar nature from a gay or lesbian household, not one. And yes, gay people are far better parents than most heteros could ever hope to be. Being hetero does not a good parent make, look at George and Laura Bush, good parents?

That Greg is such an obvious queer. The right wing must lampoon him every time he leaves the room. He is a sissy dupe getting used by his own oppressers. What a rube.
