A story in the New York Times says Democrats are heading into this year's elections in a position weaker than they had hoped for, party leaders say, stirring concern that they are letting pass an opportunity to exploit what they see as widespread Republican vulnerabilities.
I think the Democrats need a plan sooner than later. I made some suggestions in a recent column, but it appears they are not listening. Let us hope they get it together so we can end this corrupt inept and failed rule by the GOP.

Well, it doesn't surprise me. Who among them has any guts to stand up for the real issues and who among them would dare to address full equality for the LGBT community? Ted Kennedy is the only one. They lost my vote at the last election. Until the party addresses equality/civil marriage as part of their platform, they're not getting my vote. They've yet to earn it.
will get their attention, and that, very slowly.

What is the source of that info? The NYT also went along with the 'Iraq has WMD' baloney story. Almost everyone i know is fed up; the Dems are a bunch of jellyfish, but they may win simply because most thinking people cant stand the gop anymore.

I hear ya! I know how you feel ... Mass Defections - NoLonger voting Democrat ...
But where does that leave us? Either a 3rd Political Party begins to take shape, gain momentum and grass-roots support that can pick up the votes from all of us who feel disenfranchised by the Dems and GOP ...
Or what? We are fucked for good !? What is the alternative to voting GOP?
Paul, the only sure way of giving both parties a wake-up call ideally would be to vote en masse for the Greens, which I do anyway. Its the only party dedicated to full equality for the LGBT community. Neither of the others are interested because its not politically expedient or popular. More important to them are their careers and money and free healthcare, hefty pensions and other freebies once they retire, all at the expense of hard-working, taxpaying LGBT citizens.
If the Democrats in your country don't win this by a landslide then their prospects for the future are grim..... I'm rooting for them though, all the way from Oz! :)
