The blog, Molly Saves The Day, has a solution for the women of South Dakota who just lost their right to choose: A Do-it-Yourself abortion manual.
For under $2000, any person with the inclination to learn could create a fully functioning abortion setup allowing for both vacuum aspiration and dilation/curettage abortions. If you are careful and diligent, and have a good grasp of a woman's anatomy you will not put anyone's health or life in danger, even if you have not seen one of these procedures performed.
It is sad that it is coming to this - but here is a glimpse of the future, as the far right begins to dismantle a woman's right to control her body.

"you will not put anyone's health or life in danger"...

Except for the unborn child that you're killing, of course.

Abortion doesn't kill a child, born or otherwise.

Abortion prevents an unwanted pregnancy, period. A woman (or parents) who do not want to carry a baby to term, should have health care available for her wishes, or in the case of a medical emergency, rape or incest, to save her life, period. It is none of a sleazy politician or religious bible belting fool's business, it is between a woman, her family and her health care provider, period.

Abortion doesn't prevent a pregnancy, it ENDS a pregnancy, by killing a living, growing human fetus, PERIOD! So yes it does kill a child. We give more rights to animals than we do something that is actually human, a fetus. That's a shame!

A fetus is a living, growing, changing human being. A woman should not be allowed to kill just because of her gender.

Its sick that a doctor, trained to save lives, must kill something that is a living, growing human being.

Anonymous: What business is it of yours if a woman chooses to end her pregnancy? Answer is, it is not your business, it is between the woman, her health care provider and in some cases, her family.

1.) We do not give more rights to animal fetuses than we do to human fetuses.... pregnant cats and dogs are spayed routinely. We also routinely spay non-pregnant cats and dogs, we do not routinely sterilize human beings.

2.) Do you really want to give human embryos the full rights of born human beings? Have you seriously thought about the can of worms this would open? Would you have a woman arrested for smoking during pregnancy for endangering her fetus? "Law & Order: Miscarriage Unit" here we come! You do not want to go down that road.

3.) A cluster of cells is not a human being.

"We do not give more rights to animal fetuses than we do to human fetuses"

Interesting. When do you think an animal will find a cure for cancer? Or become the first gay president of the United States?
posted by Anonymous Anonymous, at 3/17/2006 10:29 AM

I wasn't the one who brought up the bullshit about treating animals better than humans. I'm just pointing out that we don't, which dispels that theory.
posted by Anonymous Anonymous, at 3/17/2006 10:39 AM

Also, do you think a mentally handicapped person will "find a cure for cancer? Or become the first gay president of the United States?" Does this make mentally handicapped persons "less than human"?

FUCK YOU!!

Animals are superior to people. They are loving and sweetand friendly. I have a cat, a dog and a sow.

You human-centric people are SCUM....Until all animlas are FREE none of us are FREE!!!

What?

"Molly" says that the placenta is the blood source for a "baby"?

Anonymous, are you saying we should abort fetuses which, when born, will mature into mentally handicapped people?

Who's next? GLBT fetuses?

OK, I'm the anonymous who wrote: "Also, do you think a mentally handicapped person will "find a cure for cancer? Or become the first gay president of the United States?" Does this make mentally handicapped persons "less than human"?"

I don't know if you were asking me or the other anonymous this question. The other anonymous seems to think that humans are more valuable than animals because humans can "find a cure for cancer" or "become president"... in other word, because they are more intelligent than animals. My point was that mentally handicapped people cannot perform these particular tasks and I was asking the other anonymous if this made them "less than human". In other words, I do not believe that this makes them "less than human", but by the other anonymous' definition of what makes humans better than animals, it would.

I'm sorry, but saying a fetus is a baby is like saying a ball of yawn is a sweater.

Hey sweater, that's how you got your start. Unless your mama picked you out of a cabbage patch or did the mother ship drop you off.

I never said anything about animal fetuses, I said we treat animals in general better than we do a human fetuses, and that's a shame!

The ball of yarn to a sweater analogy is irrevelant, neither one is a alive, a human fetus is a living, growing human being. With abortion continuing to be legal in this country and further studies in human genetics and DNA whose to say they won't start killing human fetuses because of race or sexual orientation or handicap once they found out with a genetic test? Its just as disgusting as a random "woman's-right-to-kill" abortion.

It is no ones business what any person discusses with their doctor. Therefore, it’s no ones business if a woman decides to end a pregnancy. If someone has their appendix removed, is that anyone’s business? NO! Remember: be careful what rights you take away from someone else, your rights might be next.
posted by Anonymous Anonymous, at 3/20/2006 8:20 AM

If a woman told her doctor she was going kill herself or kill another human being, I seriously doubt the doctor would do nothing about it.
The right to privacy should stop when it will threaten or end the life of another. A pedophile with child porn in the so-called "privacy" of their own home is violating the law. A person drinking and driving in the "privacy" of their own vehicle is breaking the law.
A cluster of HUMAN cells in the womb is not part of the woman's body. It is a separate entity, it is a human fetus, or developing to become one.

If you are against abortion than don't have one. Mind your own business!

Do it youself Abortion kits what kind of nonsense is this? Only a certified Ostetrician should perform such a procedure, as with any other surgical procedure practicing medicine without a license is a serious crime! If abortificiant forms of birth control are illegal in your state, go elsewhere to an OG clinic only if absolutely necessary(if the physical, phsysiological, psycological or emotional health of the mother is in peril, or if the fetus has serious abnormalities and likely will result in a spontanious abortion, or a still birth)

More importantly contracepive forms of birth control sould be employed to greatly reduce the risk of an unintented pregnancy and medically complicted pregnancies.

Personally I frown upon elective abortion procedures, I feel such medical procedures are best used in cases where it is not in the best intrest of the mother's health to allow the pregnancy to continue.

but you are all entitled to your own opinions.
