The political firestorm continues. According to The Washington Post's Howard Kurtz:

"One thing is clear about Russ Feingold's move to censure President Bush - Republicans love it and Democrats hate it. Rarely has a maneuver with as much chance of passing as Barry Bonds hitting 73 homers without steroids sparked such a reaction."

Hillary Rosen has been quoted as saying democrats don't NEED an Iraq policy. (That dovetails with the Washington Post article you linked last week.)

Why do you think Republicans love this and Democrats are running away from it. Because the former group knows that latter doesn't want to be exposed for the (at this point in time) flaccid, impotent, idealogically bankrupt group that they are at this point in time, and if Feingold's measures come to pass that's exactly what the American public is going to see.

By all means try and win the congress this year (it will be good to see what the Dems policies are when Rep. Pelosi unveils them in a couple of weeks) but you'd better have a plan for 2008. You've got to give Americans a reason to vote FOR liberalism.

Kurt, you're wrong as usual. The reason the Republicans love the censure move and the Democrats hate it is because it gives the G.O.P. a perfect distraction from their current woes. It would wipe the front pages clean of Dubai, Abramoff, the Iraq dead, Katrina, spying without a warrant, and Bush's 37% approval rating. It could also conceivably solidify the Bush base as fence-sitting Republicans decide to finally rally behind the president. That is something that Democrats certainly don't want to happen.

The dems hate it because they are idiots, the pugs love it because they, too are idiots. We are just a few months away from the mid-terms and before this the pugs were trying their damnedest to "distance" themselves from the worst POTUS of all time. Now they'll forced into a position of defending the dead duck, which, if the dems would wake up and realize it, they could use to paint all the pugs with the same bushie brush and voila, a new dem controled congress to ITMFA and send him and his cronies to fed prison for a very long long time.
