The American Family Association is having a fire sale on the video "It's Not Gay," featuring the not-so-ex-gay Michael Johnston. After I bitterly criticized the AFA for committing fraud on the Al Rantel Show, it appears they are trying to get rid of their stock by reducing the video to $10.
The price I'm worried about, however, is the one paid by unsuspecting people who believe the lie that the HIV + Johnston is really an "ex-gay." They should speak with the gay men in Virginia Beach, as I have, that were in an orgy with him and ask them if they think he is "ex-gay."
By peddling this video, the AFA has shown that it is a hate group with no regard for the truth or the lives of gay men. Only a malicious and morally malignant organization would sell a video that is false, misleading and dangerous. As far as I'm concerned, AFA's leader, Donald Wildmon, should be put in jail for selling "I's Not Gay." His group is knowingly committing fraud and should be shut down until it stops selling this phony video.

I hope that dirtbag had the decency (laugh) to wear a condom at his orgies. It would be nice if Lambda Legal Def. would go after the selling of the fraudulant video, but *proving* it in court would probably be very difficult. B. Queer

Even if the video is free, it is still expensive...

aside from being morally bankrupt, this guy is a criminal. Professing to be "saved" through prayer while having sex with men is one thing, but knowingly engaging in unprotected sex and not divulging this is criminal. I don't believe in hell, but hopefully this guy will be going there.
I would LOVE to see the FTC or the Better Business Bureau go after them.
In fact I may just pay their websites a visit... hmm.

The AFA crossed the line into hate group-dom a while ago.
Aren't they now boycotting Walmart b/c it sells Brokeback Mountain?
AFA is a hate group - we can all call it what it is.

I found no reference to a Wal-Mart boycott at the AFA website. In fact, I find very little information about any group trying to prevent Brokeback's sale.
If they floated this one as a trial balloon, it didn't go anywhere. Brokeback has reached that critical mass, with its Oscar nominations and wins (Ang Lee & Best screenplay adaptation), and its independent spirit award win, that refusing to sell it would abrade Wal-Mart's image as a one stop retailer. (You can buy your socks there, but if you want to make your own decision about contemporary films, you need to shop for your media elsewhere.)

Thanks, Timothy, and very interesting. Looks like Wal-Mart wouldn't play ball on this one. I love the last few lines of the story:
"And now ... it seems [that Wal-Mart is saying] 'We're going to do everything we can to make another dollar, regardless of how our customers feel.'"
Believing that turnabout is fair play, Sharp encourages concerned Christians to let their local Wal-Mart managers know how they feel and that they are not pleased over the chain's decision to promote and carry the pro-homosexual movie.
What "turnabout" are they talking about? Am I missing something? If WalMart is selling something their customers don't want, then why does the AFA think WalMart is being motivated by money? If AFA is right, Brokeback will stick WalMart with stock that won't move.
And if their customers buy it like crazy, doesn't that do far more to communicate how their customers feel than the choir who will call the store managers?
