An overwhelming majority of Americans believe that fighting between Sunni and Shiite Muslims in Iraq will lead to civil war, and half say the United States should begin withdrawing its forces from that violence-torn country, according to the latest Washington Post-ABC News poll.

The survey found that 80 percent believe that recent sectarian violence makes civil war in Iraq likely, and more than a third say such a conflict is "very likely" to occur. These expectations extend beyond party lines: More than seven in 10 Republicans and eight in 10 Democrats and political independents say they believe such a conflict is coming.

If a civil war breaks out, Bush can kiss support for his war goodbye. It will be a tragic nightmare of the President's doing that will make America less safe and more vulnerable to terrorism.

There are some other interesting things in that article, notably that there has been a nine point shift downward for the democrats in congress in response to the question: (Who do you trust) "to do a better job in coping with the main problems the nation faces over the next few years." (However, they still lead republicans by two.)

They're trending downward in other areas, too. Interestingly, 52 percent of respondants approve of how Bush is handling the war on terror, and his 41 per cent approval rating is 7 points above the CBS poll released last week.

Should be a fun election.

That just shows what a bunch of stupid dumbasses like you kurt there still are our there. And you can cook the numbers any way you want, bush's approval rating is in the LOW 30s and VP Elmer Fudd is even lower!! The Dems WILL take congress back in november!!!

If? IF???? It has broken out. Iraq is in a full scale Civil War.

It's no longer "if", it has never been IF.

Bushs approval rating is so low now he can smell his own asshole.

The fun part of the election, Kurt, well be to see you taking your head out of your ass. I don't know where you got those numbers you mention, but they are as big a lie as Bush is. You're only part of a handful believing the propoganda shit the GOP is peddling.

Who do you (I) trust? It aint that lying ASSHOLE Bush and his Sidekicks, that's for sure..
