Iran announced Tuesday that its nuclear engineers had advanced to a new phase in the enrichment of uranium, and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and a series of the country's ruling clerics declared that the nation would now speed ahead, in defiance of a United Nations Security Council warning, to produce nuclear fuel on an industrial scale.
I know the temptation of dying and getting to hook up with all those virgins in heaven can be a powerful incentive for Iran to commit national suicide. Still, Iran really ought to think twice before messing with a dumb president with poll numbers in the gutter. It appears that the only way Bush might be able to pull himself out of his nosedive, is bombing Iran into oblivion. The Iranians may be doing Bush quite a big favor by chest thumping. If Bush didn't have Ahmadinejad, he'd have to invent him.

Like you said in the column below this one Wayne, it just gets more surreal everyday under the bush cabal. The New Yorker mag. with the Seymour Hirsh article in it about this 'bomb iran' plan just arrived at the library where i work. I'm looking forward (with dread) to reading it. Gary (NJ)

Iran may have a nuclear weapon within a decade. (There were, apparently onstage at some even yesterday in that nation, dancers with fake vials of uranium celebrating their newly announced nuclear prowess.)
Those in charge of Iran have hated the U.S. for decades before Bush, dating at least back to the Jimmy Carter era.
The government there has said they won't make the same mistakes with their nuclear program that Iraq has made with theirs.
What measures are those who are opposed to GWB (at this point in time: the democrats) ready to take to deal with this nation?
And how are GLBT people in the middle east going to be any more free to "be who they are" with a nuclear-armed Iran in the neighborhood?

No one in their right mind would want iran to have nukes; but what do you think the 'fallout' would be, literally and politically, if we dropped nukes on a muslim country? And kurt (i assume it's you or a clone of you) we're sick of your mantra about the Democrats 'not having a plan'. Bush and the republicans have fucked up everything they've touched, why do WE have to keep coming up with plans to clean up the mess. We'll have to do that once we get back in power anyway. B. Queer
