Moscow's influential mayor Yuri Luzhkov said on Tuesday the city banned gay activists from holding a parade because it is morally cleaner than the West, which is caught up in "mad licentiousness."
"Our way of life, our morals and our tradition -- our morals are cleaner in all ways. The West has something to learn from us and should not race along in this mad licentiousness," he told Moscow radio, according to local news agencies. We may have a democratic country, but we live in an organized country and an organized city."
What a joke! I can't stop laughing. When a person claims to be clean or a culture pure, it is time to take out the sanitary napkins. I know of several men who go to Russia specifically for the easy sex and cheap prostitutes. After all, homophobia just makes a local gay population easier to exploit.
It is also hilarious to hear Luzhkov discuss morals when Moscow is recognized as one of the most corrupt places to do business in the world. Not only is sex easy to come by, but a western businessman is likely to get screwed when making a deal.
As I have said before, a nation's success and freedom can be easily gauged by looking at how it treats homosexuals. When Russia was headed in the right direction, it liberalized. Now that Russia is looking like an authoritarian pit, it is cracking down on Gay Pride - which essentially is freedom.

It's not just how a society treats women, racial and sexual minorities, but Gandhi said you can judge the moral character of a culture from the way they treat their *animals*! YUP! Guess that's why rodeos are so popular in bushville! B. Queer
