A restaurant in Maryland has caused an uproar with a sign of the times, which reads: "No Coloreds, Fags or Bikers."
Well, this is what you get when you have right wing groups spending millions of dollars to scapegoat people. If we are as terrible as their propaganda suggests, no wonder a few hateful hicks don't want to eat with us. After 6 years of the Bush Administration setting back the clock, is it any wonder that the 21st Century is looking more like the 1950s?

I think an army of black drag queens on bicycles and tricycles should encircle the dump and shoot flaming arrows at it! B. Queer

True, no self-respecting gay person would be caught dead in breaded-grease, high fructose corn syrup shithole like that, with a bunch of redneck trash, but it's the principle of it.

This place must be in the isolated western part of the state...the "panhandle" west of Cumberland. You would never see a gay (or "colored") person out there.

Never mind...I just read the Blade article. It's further south from Baltimore.
Infuriating indeed. I literally foam at the mouth when I see stuff like that.

If the sign is authentic, that's a crime against humanity, BUT...
It is more likely that the sign originally said "no colors or rags" because colors would have meant gang colors, and rags would have meant the same -- rags of different colors that symbolize gangs. The news story included this strong possibility, and noted that there had been a recent biker shooting nearby.
As far as I know, it's perfectly legal for restaurants to ban people from wearing certain gang-related attire -- even if it's not legal, it's more morally acceptable than prohibiting fags or blacks from entering the store.
Further, I don't think anyone is stupid enough to post a sign like that ... everyone knows you'll get shot posting something like that.
Kids are always messing with signs; look at collegehumor.com or another stupid-kid site for evidence of this. Should we penalize a high school for posting a sign that reads "Anal exams," when it's really "Final exams" with the F and the I tipped toward each other?
So I'd give the restaurant owners the benefit of the doubt rather than shooting up the place with flaming arrows.

Wayne is right, but he should have said "the 1850's" instead of "the 1950's".
