"IN DEFENSE OF BIBLICAL MARRIAGE" The Presidential Prayer Team is currently urging us to: "Pray for the President as he seeks wisdom on how to legally codify the definition of marriage. Pray that it will be according to Biblical principles.
With many forces insisting on variant definitions of marriage, pray that God's Word and His standards will be honored by our government."Any good religious person believes prayer should be balanced by action. So here, in support of the Prayer Team's admirable goals, is a proposed Constitutional Amendment codifying marriage entirely on biblical principles:
A. Marriage in the United States shall consist of a union between one man and one or more women. (Gen 29:17-28; II Sam 3:2-5.)B. Marriage shall not impede a man's right to take concubines in addition to his wife or wives. (II Sam 5:13; I Kings 11:3; II Chronicles 11:21) TO READ MORE CLICK HERE

Traditional marriage is between a MAN and a WOMAN -- one word is missing.
Traditional marriage is between a STRAIGHT MAN and a STRAIGHT WOMAN.
A marriage between a GAY MAN and a WOMAN would never work.
A marriage between a GAY WOMAN and a STRAIGHT MAN would never work.

there is no such thing as traditional marriage. i'd like to get married someday but i'm already in my forties - how untraditional is that!!! traditional just does not exist. what are these people thinking?? what history did they learn from their families. one of my great great grandmothers married a guy and in return he could use all her farm tools, work the land, provide for her. it was a prenuptial from way back when ... was that traditional??? ugh?!@

in addition - does traditional mean arranged marriages, too?? and does that mean girls will be married off to old men? if we have traditional marriages what about traditional divorces?? you know the kind that makes you stay married to an abusive man who molests your children - afterall only adultery is only real reason for divorce - right?

I hope we go back to traditional marriage so that I can watch conservative wingnuts everywhere sell their 12-year-old daughters for an acre of land and some livestock. And if that little girl doesn't put out, she can be beheaded, since divorce will be outlawed. Yep. Sounds about right to me.
Hmmmm...then why was a woman the first person Jesus appeared to after His resurrection?

...and where in the Bible does God ever give His blessing to arrangements of multiple wives and concubines?
For the most part, the men who took them usually paid a pretty high price. (And it's said polyamory, not monogamy, comes more naturally to us.)

Didn't Lot bang his daughters (after the fall of Sodom and Gomorrah) in order to reproduce?

To the extent that God "gave his blessing" to any Old Testament marriage, He did to Jacob's two wives Rachel and Leah. They were sisters. And they were the mothers of the 12 tribes of Israel and through them were the nations blessed.
Solomon paid no "price" for his multiple wives.
Nor did David. In fact, God commented on his multiple wives after David had Bathsheba's husband murdered so he could marry her. He said that David was like a sheppard with many sheep who stole another guy's only sheep. There was no condemnation whatsoever about having many sheep, just stealing the one. And then the lineage of David (to Christ) was carried through the second child of the sheep he stole.
