Apparently bored with the big tent of "pro-family" issues, "Porno Pete" LaBarbera is slithering away from the Illinois Family Institute to pursue anti-gay activism full time. There is speculation that he got canned, because under his leadership Illinois saw the largest expansion of gay rights since ancient Greece.
LaBarbera's return to full-time anti-gay activism is a wonderful event. He is a virtual farm team for creating ex-ex-gay spokspeople and failed ex-gay leaders, as the man behind John Paulk, Wade Richards and Michael Johnston.
"I can only wonder what former ex-gay spokesperson LaBarbera will bring me next," said Truth Wins Out Executive Director Wayne Besen.

Maybe LeBarbera became too nutty and extreme for IFI. It's hard to imagine being too wacky for IFI, but if anyone could do it, LaBarbera would be the guy.

Literally behind Paulk, Richards, and Johnston? We can't wait for Peter LaBarbera to go behind James Hartline *snicker*.
Maybe his constant hanging out at gay baths raised their suspicions.

I have heard of "PH = Prpfessional Homosexuals" but this is too much! I think he should be hired by Out.com, since he gives to the GLBT community more visibility than Rupaul in full drag!

There can be little doubt that Porno Pete was forced out following the debacle of the antigay Illinois marriage referendum which failed to gain ballot status for the Fall election.
His effort to win allies among antigay African American clergy didn't get much traction. Funny how a group from Glenn Ellen can't seem to get a drum beat going among those excluded from the lily white suburb.
With apparently last minute staging, LaBarbera provided little more than comic relief for Chicago's Gay Games in July. His grand finale, a protest at Steamworks bath house, was ridiculed and rained upon. Having vowed to stay until midnight, the hate crusader and his pitiful band left the street after a little more than an hour.
As for his "relaunch" of yet another antigay hate group, isn't that field already crowded? Hopefully, LaBarbera's desperate effort to keep his balloon in the air will end with a loud bang.

I don't know - I see danger up ahead with groups like LaBarbera's.

The earlier that Peter LaBarbera comes out of the closet himself, the better for him. But, he can't be that smart.
