Renew America's Guy Adams Reaches 'New Low In Gay Bashing,' Says TWO

today called on
Renew America's Chairman Alan Keyes to dismiss
Guy Adams, the group's Deputy National Grassroots Director, after he made hateful and defamatory remarks against the gay and lesbian community on an Internet radio show. Adams' comments linking homosexuality with infant pedophilia reached "a deplorable new low in gay bashing," said TWO's executive director Wayne Besen.
On August 2, Adams appeared on "The Right View," an Internet radio show hosted by Neo-Puritan operative
Stacy L. Harp. While discussing the recent Gay Games, a sporting event for the GLBT community that recently took place in Chicago, Adams made his outlandish comments:
"The newest thing in Chicago, it's becoming a trend, and you're gonna find this hard to believe...sex with infants," Adams said, without offering evidence to back his preposterous and offensive claim. "It's not enough that they have...you know when you engage in perversion, and homosexuality is perversion, we don't hate the gays mind you, we don't hate them, we hate what they're doing...pretty soon that perversion is like addiction, it's not enough, so you need to graduate to something else. You need to move on. So now they're having sex with animals, a small group that's getting bigger, sex with infants, sex in the street in Chicago out in the open, it's just getting more and more perverted."
"The slurs by Adams are a shameful attempt to dehumanize an entire community and he has taken anti-gay propaganda to a disgraceful nadir," said Truth Wins Out's Executive Director Wayne Besen. "These remarks are intended to incite hatred and Alan Keyes should make it clear that Renew America does not support such rhetoric by immediately distancing the group from Adams."
Aside from working with Renew America, Adams claims to be a law enforcement officer and was Keyes' bodyguard in the 2004 Senatorial elections. His comments were part of an onslaught of mendacious anti-gay rhetoric spewed on the radio show. Early in the interview Adams dismissed the contributions of GLBT people to society by saying, "what contributions, AIDS, pornography?" He also referred to gay people as "a very angry and violent group when confronted with the truth."
"It seems there are no moral boundaries the anti-gay industry won't cross in its efforts to distort the lives of gay people and propagate malignant myths," said Besen. "We must be vigilant because each day this right wing extreme pumps divisive and destructive political poison into the mainstream, leading to prejudice and persecution."
The bigoted broadcast was originally discovered by blogger
Joe Brummer who said, "Think about some of the outlandish claims made about groups of people over the course of history and then think about the claims that Guy Adams is making. I wish people would stop this horrible rhetoric. It is just so wrong."
Truth Wins OUT is a non-profit think tank and advocacy organization that counters right wing misinformation campaigns, debunks the ex-gay myth, and provides accurate information about the lives of GLBT people.

Well, TWO is dedicated to denounce ex-gays. Although, anyone with a brain should respond to this bizarre statment made by that individual. Where is his proof? Nowhere. He is just inciting fear and hatred among his already fearful and hateful listeners.

I think extreme homophobia should be classified as mental illness. I mean, it's either that, or some of these Right Wingers have been possessed by demons. It's the only way you can explain the ever-more-outrageous lies, the pathological hatred, the unquenchable need to vilify and ostracize Lesbians and Gay men. Never mind about the "ex-Gay" movement . . . we need an ex-fundamentalist movement, and we need it bad!

People who make such barbaric statements of false witness against other groups of human beings usually almost always have a deep dark secret. We've seen time and time again how moralizers are really engaging in psychological projection as a way of relieving some of the shame that resides within their own souls. Considering that Adams is making accusations of "infant sex", I shudder when I consider what his secret might really be.

I'm not understanding how that kind of slander is legal. It certainly would not be if it were directed at one person... but it might as well be. When it comes to accusing people of molesting babies, it might as well be a call to violent action. oh wait... 3 in San Diego, New Mexico, Maine...

ok, where to start? This is a "conversations" that has been in the public for decades now!
- No, Gays are not child molesters by definition. Anyone who can read 5 grade level should know that, since there are extensive studies that Girls are molested way more than boys are. That there are Gay men who are also child molesters? Maybe, but the statistics show that they are a minority and not a singl estudy links directly homosexuality and pedophillia.
- I find these stupid acusations not only homophobic but sexist. Whoever wants to focus on the possibility that some gay men are child molesters, are obviously trying to hide the problem of child molestation of girls by their own parents, brothers, uncles, neighboors, pastors and a wide range of heterosexuals.
I hope someone would find these studies and show that this obviously homophobic effort only does a disservice to heterosexual and homosexual women, and mislead and misinform the public.

Psychologists have told us time and again, those who are the most homophobic are also the most likely to be closet cases. To wit--the test that psychologists did recently on men who classified themselves as very homophobic, also were the ones who exhibited the most penile stimulation (erections) while being shown gay porn.

Where are the Godly Christians to denounce these types of lies? Even if they don't believe things like this, they still let it slide. There is an automatic response to gay people among the Religious Right. Even ones that may be troubled by the way their leadership treats gay people are too afraid of appearing on the side of gays. So they remain silent.

To the putz (probably the same person) who posted at 4:21 and 4:30--all I stated was a FACT of psychology and psychiatry--those who are the most judgemental of others about sexual "stuff" are the most likely to be perving it up themselves behind closed doors. Of course I know not ALL homophobic people are closet cases, but it's an established fact that those who are most likely to 'gay bash' are the same ones who are fighting their own internal sexual demons. Hetero men who are secure and psychologically healthy have no need to trash other people either verbally or physically. It's only a step or two worse than the recent attempt by NARTH on their website to pin the blame for AIDS in Africa on homosexuality.
Nothing more quickly and thoroughly re-convinced me that they are not scientists than that.

I would like to see the arrest reports or the investigative reports of suspected infant rape cases that justifies a police officer (not an investigator or detective) making these kinds of statements. What is scarey also, is that the gay community is more concerned with what is said about them then the possibility that children really are at risk of pedophiles. A good PR move would be for the gay copmmunity and its' leaders to raise money and awareness for the protection and welfare of at risk children. Children have no voice. But we do!

Well, frankly, he didn't claim that their was a massive pedophile ring going on in Chicago. He claimed that the latest fad of gay people was raping babies. So it is strictly about gays, not pedophilia. If I thought for a second that this was even partially true, I would certainly get the proper authorities to investigate as would all gay men and women posting on this site. It isn't about that. It's about a man who can think of nothing more to make average people hate us so he makes up shit about us and tries to pass it off as truth. Nothing makes a group of people more the villain than to claim that this group will harm your children. The Klan did it with the blacks and the fundies do it with the gays. The vicious circle continues.

No - I am certain that the ex-gays he comes into contact with make anyone of us suspicious. It's the ex-gays you cannot see. We do exist. No I will not picket at the APA or at any place. We do stay in our private lives. He is mostly perturbed (and rightly so) by the ex-gays who politically advocate against gay rights. However, being angry at a group does not mean that ex-gays do not exist. And I am not saying that gay is not a biological trait.

OK, I know what you say. And I beleive that you feel what you feel. But can you understand why he feels what he feels? Can you understand why the very mention of "ex-gay" sets his hair on end. It isn't the phenomena, it's the political and religious backing. And you would be much better off if you just called yourself straight instead of ex-gay. Because straight is what you are. But the book is not about individuals, short of the poor folks who have been victimized. From what I understand, Wayne isn't talking about the phenomena. He's talking about the religious, political and cultural institutions that take advantage of good-hearted, albiet undereducated, people who are trying so hard to do what's best for their loved ones that they end up hurting them in the process. Wayne has spent a lot of time fighting these groups. But you are not the issue. You make yourself the issue by consistantly throwing up the "I'm ex-gay, acknowledge me" stance. The fact is that people who claim ex-gay are so often in the pocket of the christian right. Since you are soooo insistant, why would he think otherwise about you? I wouldn't see you as ex-gay any more than I would see a trannie as ex male or ex female. It's what we are that matters.

It's what you tell people. I do believe some people are born gay. Hands down. But there are some who get into the gay lifestyle as an alternative. They indeed have issues to deal with. If they choose to stay in the lifestyle - that is fine. That is for them. But shouldn't they also have a choice to look at their issues? I am not a freak accident. There are many more like me - you just don't see us. Wayne erased my post on that. I'll keep trying to communicate.

First of all, I don't tell people anything. I don't choose to label myself, but a label has been thrust upon me. Unfortunately that label has turned into "Second class citizen." Secondly, although, I'm most certain you didn't mean it as such, the term "homosexual Lifestyle" is highly offensive to many gay people, myself included. Gay people are a variant bunch, and we have more than one lifestyle. Lastly, I don't believe that heterosexual people who engage in gay sex are fine at all. I think it is unhealthy to try to be something that you are not. But your point that people who perceive themselves as gay and seek councilling to change their perception to one of a straight person, still does not change the fact that the person has always been straight, not ex-gay. And a person who is gay and chooses celibacy is still gay, not ex-gay. So I'd really like to know, openly and clearly, and if you don't feel comfortable answering in this venue, e-mail me. Are you a person who was completely attracted to members of the same gender only and became someone who is now attracted to members of the opposite gender only?

As someone who was sexually abused by more than one male (who eventually became officially gay) following the abandonment of my father, I find it interesting how you all seem to live in your own little world. If you look at these posts, it obvious you all just sit around reinforcing your own views. There are no opposing views, if there were, they were "removed". I would like to know the percentage of gays who have major father issues. Anyone have and research data on this? Or are you all still under the rationalizing fantasy perpetrated by corrupted, protocol lacking scientific "evidence" thats being gay is NOT a choice and is genetic.
The question is not how many gays are pedophiles. Its how many pedophiles exibit homosexual behaviour. If the connection is there, its there, period.
