In today's New York Times, there was a story about the Pope's stupid remarks that had recently angered Muslims. The article quotes an angry Muhammed el-Qaddafi, son of Libyan leader Muammar:
"If this person [The Pope] were really someone reasonable, he would not agree to remain in his post one minute," said Muhammed, "but would convert to Islam immediately."
What is this guy smoking in the desert? It is quaint to think you can reason with all people and find common ground. But, when you hear nonsense like this, you instinctively know it is not true.
Falling into that category is Iran's squinty-eyed runt of a president, AhmadJihad. It is becoming increasingly clear that he is going to one day end up hiding in a bombed out rathole, just like Saddam Hussein. War with Iran is a really awful option. But President AhmadJihad is practically begging to be the guest of honor at an American cruise missile party. Every time I hear him talk, all I can think is, "bombs away."

Wayne,
How would YOU deal with this man?
What if one of his genuine demands was "To have peace with us, you must never, EVER allow gay people to marry?"

Dealing with him is fairly straightforward. Just give Israel the green light to bomb his nuclear reactors into Kingdom Come.

One of the reasons this wingnut loon won the Iranian election was because our stupid President and the cabal of American warmonger wingnuts kept busy sticking their noses in the country's business AND rattling the sabers at Iran. There well could have been another direction for this country if our Administration would have kept its invasion-happy mouth SHUT.

Wrong...see Iran under the Jimmy Carter administration (and since).

But his eyes are so blue--like window cleaner! He's either a Fremen or has been eating too much of the Spice from Arrakis.

I gotta disagree here, Wayne. Sabre-rattling is what keeps nutjobs like Ahmadinejad in power.
We can't successfully prosecute simultaneous conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. What makes you think we could competently take on a country bigger than both combined AT THE SAME TIME?
When will we learn the limits of military power? All international problems cannot be solved with a cruise missile, no matter how visceraly satisfying it might be.
Think about it. Would a Draft, and thousands more US dead (without a definitive conclusion) be a smart move? -SharonB

Anonymous, at 9/20/2006 1:37 PM,
Wrong again. See Iran and the CIA under the Eisenhower administration.

Have you ever listened to what this guy says like in his speech yesterday at the UN? He makes SENSE unlike bush. His comments about america's hegemony and imperialism are spot on.
Yes, he and his country don't like queers but really, the republicans would hook our nuts up to electrodes if they could, so what's the difference?
And why does this site about the lunacy of gay conversion need to go to foreign policy? Are you an expert?

He's nuts? Funny, I don't see Iranians invading any other country. Can you say that about America?

True, but do you really want to see Iran with Nukes. I don't. They would surely turn DC into the next Hiroshima. And before you laugh about a glowing President Bush, think about all the innocent people who are forced to live there.

Get over that irrational fear. They're not going to nuke DC. You're simply projecting since america the cesspool is the only country to ever use nukes.
There's no way we or anyone else is going to stop other countries from progressing technologically and militarily. We could never afford the cost of such an endeavor.
It's fundamentally wrong to stop others from progressing in ANY way. Like Chavez said, bush (and most ignorant americans) talk like they own the world.
Time to slap america back to its place as only ONE country in the world. I guess 9/11 didn't do it.

Oh stop it. you can't tell me that if one of these nations got ahold of a nuclear bomb, they wouldn't use it on the US. I don't believe it. And Bush will be hiding out at an "undisclosed" location, leaving the rest of us to be microwaved. It is hardly an irrational fear. The irrationality is in thinking the leaders of nations that support terrorism are not capable of it. I think that all nuclear bombs should go away. Obviously that isn't going to happen. Barring that, keeping any other nation from getting the bomb is necessary for our entire population.
