Once again, President Bush has placed partisanship above his patriotic duty to represent all Americans. Instead of healing, we got a hack-job by a tacky tactician who turned his air-time into scare-time. Has there ever been a president so trenchant at sullying the solemn and the sacrosanct?
On the 5th anniversary of 9-11, instead of delivering a speech to unify the country Bush gave a sermon to justify his failed presidency. He portrayed opponents as trying to cut and run, but this is the same president who, in our national moment of sacrifice, cut taxes for the rich and ran up the deficit.
I think this speech was the final nail in his presidential coffin. America has largely tuned him out and realized that Bush cares more about the RNC than the USA. On this day of remembrance, we needed a president and we got a politician.

I know it's not a good Christian thing to say, but I second the comments of "Anonymous." I really do feel the exact same way. I have turned off the TV and radio many times to avoid hearing the brazen lies of our "president." How a man so obviously mendacious manages to convince anybody of anything is beyond my ken. Shame on Bush for using the tragedy of 9/11 to boost his own political fortunes!

Militant islamofascists want to kill gay people and destroy America.
And the democrats' plan to combat them is...?

...To dispatch troops when military action is indicated (as in Afghanistan), and not to spread them too thin by dividing our forces to use some for worse-than-useless adventures (i.e., Iraq). To appoint competent people to advisory, military, and diplomatic posts, instead of crackpots, crooks, and cronies. Not to issue threats (against North Korea, for instance) that turn out to be empty. To recognize that empty rhetoric like "Islamofascists" is about as accurate in summing up things as similar al-Qaida stock phrases as "Jews and Crusaders". To understand that the great mass of Muslims are not militant--but that we could well make them sympathetic to militants by our words and actions.
In short; using our brains as well as our muscles, not mistaking 'cowboy talk' and killing piles of civilians for tough action, not ignoring facts that one doesn't care to hear, and by maintaining good relations with our allies, since we need their intelligence assets--we don't even have enough people fluent in Arabic to translate the backlog of 'commint' sitting in NSA's computers. In short take everything that Boy George is doing (except invading Afghanistan) and do the opposite.
