Six weeks before Election Day, the Democrats suddenly face a map with unexpected opportunities in their battle for control of the Senate. With Sen. George Allen's meltdown, there are suddenly enough seats in play for Dems to take over.
Imagine waking up and having the Republican leadership that has so degraded our nation out of power. What a beautiful thought. Still, it should be tough because of the Republican fundraising advantage - which really pisses me off because Democrats ought to be angry enough to be giving more.
13 Comments:
I hope they clean up their act, after that dismal performance when Kerry ran. I still have no idea what the Dems stand for either, equality not being one of them.
Really gotta wonder about some of the more Rovian commenters here.
Sowing discord: "clean up their act," "dismal..Kerry," "no idea what the Dems stand for," "equality not..."
Maybe the Dems won't "advance" equality like we would want, but the GOP is known for ROLLING EQUALITY BACK! Buy a clue. who would seriously pass on throwing the Rethugs out? -SharonB

Huh- back in the day it was the dems that hated civil rights and the republicans who wanted it. Everything changes. I want a peaceful homeland. I don't care what you call yourself - you have the job if you can do it.

"back in the day it was the dems that hated civil rights"
Which day was that? Can you site an example? You're not talking about the 20th century, was that the 19th?

"Back in the day" it was southern democrats who were against the civil rights act, weren't they?
As for Allen, it sounds like his democrat opponent has done some "pot, kettle, black" type of activity himself.
Robert in NYC is correct about the democrats: What do they truly stand for? And what's their plan to keep America secure?

Hey Wayne, can you check the IP of this anon poster troll. Seriously Rove's paid minions are going out to our sites spreading doubts about Dems, while seeming to originate from within the independent / progressive side. Same thing is happening at Pams and AmericaBlog, among others. -SharonB

As a party, the Democrats don't seem to know what they stand for, and consequently, the public doesn't know what they stand for. It's not comfortable voting for an unknown quantity, especially when your country is under the terrorist threat. Along with their big war chest, this is where the Republicans have a big advantage.
I wish the Dems would stop trying to evoke John Kennedy and adopt Harry Truman as their political role model. Americans have always liked their leaders to show a lot of backbone, and that's more true now than ever before. They simply cannot come across as weak or indecisive, and Bush knows that. What he clearly doesn't know is that integrity is an essential leadership quality as well.

The BIG QUESTION IS - what will happen to change the tide back to favoring the GOP? You KNOW the Bush Administration is gonna drop a bomb - maybe literally - because any threat to their hold on power is not permitted. Be afraid. When cornered, rats go for the jugular!

I am very afraid of the Bush Family. In his father's acceptance speech for the republican nomination - he was similar to Hitler's speeches. War, paranoia, foriegners, etc... I had an image of our cities being attacked. He and his son are just trouble looking for a place to happen.
