U.S. Senate candidate Jim Webb's last name has been cut off on part of the electronic ballot in Alexandria, Falls Church and Charlottesville because of a computer glitch that also affects other candidates with long names, officials said. The Democrat's full name appears on the page where voters choose for whom to vote. The error shows up only on the summary page, where voters are asked to review their selections before hitting the button to record their votes. In such a tight race a few confused voters could put Allen in the winner's circle. This is inexcusable and the election should be held off until the glitch is fixed.
It amazes me that none of these "honest mistakes" ever benefit Democrats.

Is America still a democracy? If we can't reliably expect that our votes will be properly counted, we should truly wonder. I am sad for our country, and incredibly disheartened that masses of people haven't risen up, demanding a secure electoral system. We're being snookered.

Come on guys.
You're assuming that the voters for Webb are so stupid that after voting for "James H. 'Jim' Webb" and while reviewing their vote see that it's recording "James H. 'Jim'" they will then somehow decide they should go back and vote for "George Allen" instead.
I can't imagine someone that stupid. And if they are, why on earth do you think they'd be voting for Webb instead of Allen?
There's enough real voter fraud to worry about. Let's not get sidetracked on an absolutely nothing issue.

I think it had to do with the length of the total name:
James H. 'Jim' Webb George Allen
But it does seem kinda odd that it couldn't show the full name. There are some pretty long names in politics, especially with some women using both their maiden and their married names. Off the top of my head, this stupid machine would also have cut off:
