Mary Cheney, the openly gay daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney and wife Lynne, is pregnant, according to a published report.
Mary Cheney, 37, and her partner of 15 years, Heather Poe, 45, are "ecstatic" about the baby, due in late spring, The Washington Post reported in Wednesday's editions, quoting an unnamed source close to the couple.
The two women live in Virginia, where in November, voters passed a state constitutional amendment banning gay marriage and civil unions; state law is unclear on whether Poe could have full legal rights as a parent of Cheney's child.
If Mary and Heather run into custody trouble, they have no one to blame but themselves for putting the GOP in power. However, we both know that they are too rich and well-connected to have to worry about the pedestrian problems the rest of us have to deal with. Daddy can always place a few calls so they won't feel the sting of discrimination. After all, that is what conservatism is all about: "Me First" ethics - and let the rest of the people suffer.

The Romans said it first:
"Sed licet Jovi, non licet bovi."
Literally: What is permitted for Jupiter to do, is not permitted for a cow to do.
My own favorite quotations from classical literature come from the Roman historian Tacitus, who described Christianity as "pernicious superstition, repressed for a time [which] broke out again, not only through Judea, where the mischief originated, but through the city of Rome also, where all things hideous and shameful from every part of the world find their center and become popular."
Also, Pliny the Younger, governor of the province of Bithynia in Asia Minor, who described Christianity as "nothing else but depraved, excessive superstition." in a letter to the Emperor Trajan.
In it's initial years, Christianity was considered to be a religion for the lower classes. Funny, it's two-thousand years later and very little has changed. As for Mary Cheney, the hypocrisy is just breathtaking. Reminds me of the old saying, "Watch what people do, not what they say".

So who's the father? Did they go to a sperm bank or was it the friend+turkey baster method? It would be delicious if the sperm bank screwed up and a black baby pops out next spring---oops, there goes the membership at the republican country club.

Ah, the "turkey baster" comments. How original.

I am happy for Ms. Cheney and her Partner. I only hope their child doesn's suffer at the hands of a fascist party affiliation.

It was an immaculate conception!
If so, heaven help us if the child is female.
(The immaculate conception was that of Mary, not Jesus.)
