When asked in the Republican debate about Don't Ask/Don't tell, the Republican presidential candidates all supported the current policy. Has there ever been a more gutless, pandering group in the history of politics? They are all kissing Pat Robertson's ass, and the amusing thing is, he and his friends still don't like them.
Sadly, these worms are placing our national security at risk by kicking out good soldiers and linguists that can prevent terrorist attacks. They are placing their election prospects ahead of America.
What a sad, hapless - if not hopeless - party the GOP has become.

I thought the very same thing when that question came up during last night's debate. None of them could raise their hand to say that kicking gay people out of the military (Arab linguists no less!) was a bad thing. What a sorry sight it was to see a group of men who should, and probably do, know better. It's time to elect a Democratic president.

I take Ron Paul as sincere. He at least seems reachable. He was passionate, and I loved how he had the pen in his hand the whole time he was talking.
The rest were PATHETIC. Politician wanna-be's to the end.

I disagreed with Ron Paul last night. He said, "We wouldn't have this problem if people believed in individual rights instead of rights which come from being one of a group". He is misapplying his beliefs. The truth is that if we weren't expelled from the military because of the particular group we're from, then this problem wouldn't exist. None of these guys actually get it.

"He is misapplying his beliefs."
Just as he misapplies his beliefs with hate crimes legislation. But I get the impression that he "get's it" about the big picture. And IF that's the case, then it would seem that he's reachable on the importance of other issues.
I could be wrong, but I voted for him in '88 for Prez. This is his second time running. I just think it's so amazing that he's actually got not only a following this time, but a liberal AND conservative following. He strikes a chord.

I like Ron Paul also. His ideas about the IRS and income tax are right on. He definitely does seem reachable on these issues.

The sad and sorry thing about republican candidates supporting DADT is that the Log Cabiners are still going to vote for them just as they voted for Bush who not only supported Don't Ask, Don't Tell but the Defense of Marriage Act as well. Its mindboggling, stunning.
So what would you expect from a group of men where THREE of them raised their hands when asked if they did not believe in evolution. The USA, once a shining example of human rights and the forefront of science is sliding into an ignorant fearful third-world type plutocratic religious police state. Thank you GOP and may you all roast in hell!

Neither political party is ultimately reliable. They both pander to special interests, make promises they do not keep, say things they do not mean and waste time on politics rather than governing. The truth is that voting for either party is essentially engaging in what Robert brought up: mindboggling inconsistency between your values and the actions of the people you elect to office.

PW, thank you. If I have this right, there are roughly 3 million Log Cabiners? Imagine if all of them plus 20 million Gay democrat supporters voted Green, I think this would have a huge impact on the political system of this country and put a dent in the armor of both parties, big time. Only then would we be a political force to be reckoned with. If they want our vote, let them earn it. I'm sick and tired of politics as usual, no matter who is in office, and I'm tired of being taken for granted. We have to stop this addiction with the Democratic party once and for all. They do NOT give a damn about us and in reality, they wish we'd disappear. They'll do or say anything to get elected but once they're in power, the give us the finger. I'm so angry! Wake up, everybody!
Robert, black people are beginning to feel the same way about the Dems, and I'm sure the fundos are beginning to see that the GOP is conning and using them too. But those ignorant hate-mongers deserve it.

The GOP has painted itself into a corner on the Immigration issue. There are many Hispanics in the Bush family, and Bush supports citizenship for current illegals. BUT since the GOP has the ignorant as a large part of its base, he is hanging himself by his own rope as conservatives are now deserting him. It reminds me of the old saying, "You have to dance with whom you came". Now George can see an issue he actually cares about go down in flames because of the kind of divisive supporters he himself cultivated.

Anonymous, am with you on that too. This two party system isn't working, at least not for minorities such as you and me. If we united and voted en bloc against both parties, you'd see how fast things would change. We're lulled into this false sense of security that voting the Dems in just to get the Republicans out will change anything significantly. Well, that didn't work before, never has. The Dems are way too centrist to make any difference. Now, if they returned to their left-wing roots, we'd be talking a whole different story, but none of them would have the guts to do it because their political careers come first, not we the people. No matter who is in the White House, it would still be a case of "us" and "them", we being "them". Nothing will change, just watch.
