I guess this "Focus on the Family" sign is on I-25 southbound from Denver, Colorado, which would mean the architecturally famous Air Force Academy Chapel would be visible to the "right" of the sign. The picture's background appears to be Cheyenne Mountain on the left, where NORAD was built deep inside to protect us from communists in the 1950s, and the 14,000 foot Pikes Peak, on the "right," which is next to Colorado Springs. I was living there when Focus on the Family built their new headquarters in the early 1990s "right" next to my house and spoiled my view. Even though Colorado Springs was already ultra-right wing back then, I doubt Colorado State officials would have approved an official Interstate highway sign with a politico-religious message for free. (The paid highway signs look different than this one.) Fortunately, it looks like Colorado is turning from being a red state to a blue one and so maybe this highway sign can be removed in the future.

Highly tempted to write "PWNED" across this one...

Why wait! the sign looks like it's in the middle of nowhere; someone should just trash it or spray paint it. But then we'd be lowering ourselves to their level. Leaving it intact but kissing in front of it, is a much better (and more creative response!) Red V

I had to look it up, but for the techo challenged, here's the def. of pwn from wikipedia. The word "pwn" [2][3] may have arisen and spread as a typo of the word "own", arising from the proximity of the 'p' and 'o' keys on a standard English keyboard; a phenomenon known as fat-finger. Sometime in the 1980s, along with the advent of the hacker phenomenon, "pwned" became a synonym for "hacked" or "taken over by exploitation of a vulnerability." The word "pwn" remains in use as Internet social-culture slang meaning: to take unauthorized control of someone else or something belonging to someone else by exploiting a vulnerability.
