The G.O.P. should truly be hanging it's head in shame for what it has done to gay and lesbian americans. How pathetic and sad that one of their own felt he had to seek out activity in an airport bathroom rather than living an open and honest life. Larry Craig is the embodiment of the result of their homophobia and is a symbol for marginalized gay people everywhere. The Republican Party should stop all the talk about morality. Before morality comes simple common decency, something that they have absolutely none of.

Right on, Chris.
Is anyone else still angererd over the fact that the Republicans gave David Vitter a free pass, yet have called for Larry Craig's head on a plate? And when will the MSM start putting that 2 and 2 together to get their 4?
John McCain has said that Craig pled guilty to a crime, which makes him unqualified to serve. Didn't George W. Bush plead guilty to a misdemeanor in his youth? But I already know that he is unqualified to serve. Does the Senator agree?
Why don't the Republicans just out and say it: this is not about law and order; this is about their continued hatred for gays and lesbians.
This week, the Republicans have reminded me of the old communists from the Soviet Union: loyalty to the party first. Not much after that. Mitch McConnell has said that Craig's actions were "unforgiveable." I have to laugh at that. McConnell is forever throwing the Bible in everyone else's face - has he read the part about forgiveness? I seriously doubt it.
How can Craig's actions be "unforgiveable" after David Vitter got a standing ovation at a Republican luncheon?
Chris is right. They lack simple common decency. And common sense.
Its about hypocrisy, double-standards, and hatred of LGBTQ people and is what gave the GOP two terms in the White House. The GOP engenders self-loathing by its antigay platform, it was they who used marriage equality as a wedge issue, not the democrats. Now why on earth would any closeted gay man or woman want to support a party that clearly doesn't want them is baffling and bizarre and what is even more astounding is that these people such as Craig et al vote for antigay discrimination laws. These are clearly very sick people. They are not morally superior to any of us and their anti gay marriage stance doesn't work any more. They've proved that their own kind are the biggest threat to it, not us. I hope more Larry Craigs emerge and more outings ensue. Its about time the Log Cabiners grew a pair and left the party once and for all and stop obsessing over lower taxes, the war on terror and amassing wealth while the rest of us fight for their equality, dignity and civil rights. Its so disgusting!

Robert, well said. It is a total disgrace how the GOP has chosen to stand in judgment of a group of people that they know nothing about, with the grease that lubricates those wheels of intolerance being the masses of "values" voters who do nothing when thousands die in Iraq, for example, but just can't rush out of their their easy chairs quick enough to bound to the polls to prevent gay people from being treated with dignity and equality.
These "values" voters are anything but. They're "bigotry" voters plain and simple. They've chosen to judge us according to what they perceive to be our "sex life", and now the chickens are coming home to roost as that same absurd standard is turned on them and their own pitiful party.

Chris, thank you. What is even more insidious is that gay republicans aide and abet their party by remaining in it and supporting it by voting them in every election. Oh, sure.....they protested a little when DOMA was enacted in 27 states, yet there they are, still voting for them. Actually, equality is not high on their list of things either, so its not surprising! Something really sick and screwed up about that! Its tantamount to Jews voting for Hitler! They're breeding the next generation of Larry Craigs and Mark Foleys, and Jeff Gannon's too for that matter and perpetuating shame, self-loathing and bigotry at the same time. The GOP is nothing more than a party of hate, greed, bigotry hypocrisy, money, power and self-righteousness, nothing more.

I just heard that Craig's kids said it was ok with them if their father is gay. His kids have more class and intelligence than their old man and his party of pervs! His wife must have been the stronger influence on them. Red V

Yes, his kids have class. Actually, they're not his biological kids, his wife's from a previous marriage, though I think he's lying.
