"In Iran, we don't have homosexuals like in your country, we don't have that in our country. In Iran, we do not have this phenomenon; I don't know who's told you we have this."
I suppose the non-existent homosexuals can now join the holocaust victims that do not exist in the deranged mind of this ignoramus. If it were not for the fact that most people in Iran think he is an idiot and hate the ruling clerics, I'd say bomb Iran. But the idea of a nuclear Iran? No dice. We can't let that happen. This guy is insane.

What Ahmad does'nt realize is that there are Homosexuals worldwide, ofcorse with such Barbaric laws such as beheading if one is even thought to be gay,I would be deep in the closet myself. I want to know who's the clown who invited that crazy b*#tard to New York in the first place.

He is speaking at the United Nations and invited to speak at Columbia University, which doesn't mean that Columbia University agrees with him on anything. It means that he is allowed to say what he wants and make a fool of himself with idiotic statements as there are no gay people in Iran, etc. He needs to hear the audience's response to such idiocies: roaring laughter!!! So it is a good thing the jerk is talking. Let him talk all he wants! It's called Free Speech and our society encourages it, or at least it did at one time.

As vile as this man is, he was invited by Columbia and should have been treated with respect, regardless of his abominable record on human rights and other issues. Why invite someone and then berate them publicly? Would you invite a friend to your home for dinner knowing he were a religious fundamentalist and then beat up on him? If Bush were in a foreign country and he was treated in a similar fashion (though it wouldn't bother me personally), there would be a lot of protest here at home. We need to stop the doublestandards. Bush has killed and mamed hundreds and thousand of men, women and children by this equally vile war he calls a fight for democracy, more than Ahmadinejad has or ever will. The hypocrisy of our society is mindboggling.
I don't hear any of the leading presidential hopefuls ever coming to our defense when the right wing lunatics revile us in a far more hateful way.
It seems that Lee Bollinger, president of Columbia was more than disingenuous by inviting him only to set him up for a public rebuttal. Bad manners and bad form, no matter the situation or the individual's record.

True! Dialoging is always better than dropping bombs, even if the one you're dialoging with is a total whack job. Plus, it's harder to demonize people when you have some type of face to face interaction with them. Red V

See a tongue-in-cheek graphic titled "Mahmoud Dearest", which has a little fun with the Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his unbelievable comments at Columbia University...particularly the one whereby he asserts that there aren't any gays in Iran...here:
