Perennial loser Alan Keyes, who got steamrolled in his race for the Senate in Illinois, thinks he can be president. The unhinged nutjob with the cloying, high pitched voice is entering the fray at the right wing candidates presidential forum in Florida. Is there a more annoying speaker in America? He only has one speed, and that is CRAZY.
"The one thing I've always been called to do is to raise the standard ...that there is a national standard of our allegiance to God and His authority that has been the foundation stone of our nation's life."
The bizarre rationale for his candidacy is that the other candidates are not far enough to the right. If anything, he makes me want to run for president, as I think I could scare up more votes. Does this nobody, publicity-sniffing has-been have any shame?

He's one sick fuck, he even disowned his gay daughter, so much for the christian spirit, but then, that's what the GOP is all about, a party of hatred, intolerance, bigotry and hypocrisy.

I looked up the word "crackpot" in the dictionary and there was a picture of Alan Keyes there! :-)

Good! let him waste his time and money on a hopeless pursuit. It'll be less damage he can cause elsewhere.

Wayne, if you decide to run can I be your campaign manager? :)

I don't think he'll be wasting his own money. He may be whacked and hateful but he's not stupid. If he's officially in the race he can get money from Uncle Sam (remember the yes or no box on your tax return?). He will certainly scare up a lot of donations as well. Its my understanding that when these guys leave the race, the leftover money is theirs. Can someone else enlighten us as to the facts here?

Steve, this is what is corrupting the American political system, ergo money. Remove that and maybe we'd get some semblance of democracy back and some honest, decent candidates running who stand for values and equality. Both sides are as bad as each other. I for one would never check off the "yes" box on my tax return. None of them have earned my vote thus far.

By running for President again, Alan Keyes will attract tens of thousands of people into his "campaign" (which probably amounts to a mere website at this point). Those 30,000-50,000 "Keyes Kooks" will receive solicitation letters about twice a month until November 2008. They will respond to his appeals, giving Keyes money and a sense that he is politically relevant, which, of course, he is not, for he is a mere joke.
