A Vancouver newspaper said that hate crimes in this beautiful city have doubled, with 66 per cent aimed at Jews, gays and lesbians. Of course, one egg head professor in an ivory tower blames the victims for speaking out and calling these crimes precisely what they are - crimes motivated by hate. He also wants to focus on how these criminals feel. While getting to the root cause is important - let's do so while these thugs are rotting in a jail cell.
Ehor Boyanowsky, a criminology professor at Vancouver's Simon Fraser University, doesn't like the term hate crime because it sets the victims apart from other Canadians.
He said labelling the crimes as hate crimes and the publicity that follows often makes matters worse, raising the ire of those who want to pick a fight or are on the verge of lashing out.
"I've always been against calling them hate crimes," Boyanowsky said. "What you really need to do is analyze why people feel this way and deal with them."
Yeah, right, these sleaze bags are sitting at home reading the newspaper and come to a story on hate crimes and say: "I don't like the label they have affixed to my violent proclivities. I think I'll go bash a Jew or a gay person." Um, okay, right professor.

And if anyone uses the "n" word, or any other racial or religious slur, its a different issue and the public and media are in uproar about it. When its us, nobody gives a damn. Its so obvious we have become the scapegoats for everything that goes awry in this society. I'm sick and tired of it and the republican apologists for right wing religious zealots. Good Lord, even here in Canada, we must deal with these ivory tower academics. So professor, let me get this right, I'm bashed, beaten, treated like crap or even murdered because why? A gay person dares to report a crime for what it is?? riiight. Blame the victim and the victimized, especially since nobody likes us 'fags', hmmm, I've heard this before...oh yes: Rape victims (she was asking for it), the Holocaust (the jews killed christ). We've all heard this kind of nonsense before and sadly it will continue until they finally get the message.
To the dear professor and those like him I would say this:
I, as a gay man, cannot and will not simply accept crumbs from the table of society. I, as a gay man, will not beg your permission to sit at the table. I, as a gay man, am going to grab a chair and plant my ass right beside you and to hell with what you think, say or do....because I, as a gay man, am a person, same as you.

Well, he is kind of right. If you report or also known as advertise a hate crime then those who are apt to engage in that behavior are inspired to do more so.
