The Tulsa World reports that the son of a state lawmaker
who has condemned homosexuality as a worse threat to the U.S. than "terrorists or Islam" said Friday he wants it known that he is "straight and not gay."
Jesse Kern, son of Rep. Sally Kern, R-Oklahoma City, said information purporting that he is gay, which has appeared on several blogs, is damaging to himself and his family. Kern, 31, said he feels the media has a responsibility to seek out the truth, then report it. Kern, who said he is affiliated with the Des Moines School of Metaphysics, said that he chooses to be celibate, but he is not homosexual. He also claims that his mother's statement was taken out of context.
One has to be in serious denial to say that Kern was taken out of context. That is just the most idiotic and profoundly moronic statement I have heard in quite some time. Grow up Jesse and live your life and stop being a Momma's Boy. We have ears and know that her statement was in the context in which we heard it.
To his credit, however, Kern did say that what is more important than whether it be a relationship with someone of the same sex, is that there "needs to be honor in any relationship whether it is a straight or gay relationship."
At least there is something we can agree on.

Healthy men at that age are not celibate unless they come from screwed up, oppressive, homophobic homes.
The only people whoever talk about celibacy as if it is healthy are repressed fundamentalists with hang ups they routinely confuse with morals.

I've never heard so much double speak in such a short interview.
He said that his mother's comments were taken out of context but said he hadn't actually heard what she said. Whaaa? How can you say that someone was taken out of context when you haven't even heard the remarks in question?
I agree with Wayne. This guy sounds like damaged goods. Gay, Straight or otherwise I can't imagine that he wouldn't be with such a hateful ignorant mother.

Their "taken out of context" excuse is almost as offensive as the original statement. These people are truly warped souls. How could "the gays are worse than the terrorists" be acceptable in any context other than one which condemns it? This woman has no decency, and her messed up son ("Celibate at 31") should be pitied. And let's be honest here; Wayne is absolutely right, celibacy is NOT something to admire, just as promiscuity is not something to admire. The goal is to be a happy, decent, educated, productive human being who has a healthy sexual life with someone you love, in my view.

You're right Wayne - healthy men. He may have a physical defect that no one knows about. That's not being gay or repressed - that's just being who he is.
We really don't know. Of course, suspicion is high - but we really don't know.

Well if he's so concerned with the truth, why doesn't he just explain his lifestyle? If he has some "valid" reason to be celibate, let's hear it.
