Florida Marriage Battle Is A Test To See If Exodus Is True To Its Word
NEW YORK -- TruthWinsOut.org praised the "ex-gay" organization Exodus International today for its vow to halt its aggressive political advocacy against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality. Exodus president Alan Chambers said his group would now focus on ministry, rather than lobbying efforts to enshrine discrimination in the law.
"This is a positive development and we hope Exodus keeps its word and leaves politics for good," said Wayne Besen, Executive Director of TruthWinsOut.org. "It was always hypocritical for Exodus to claim its goal was to help unhappy gay people, while lobbying to make life as miserable as possible. If Exodus is sincere, it will lower the temperature of the debate and create room for genuine dialogue."
Exodus' Chambers made his pledge this week in an exclusive interview with Ex-Gay Watch. The ex-gay activist also revealed that his organization had abandoned its lobby program in Washington.
"In August, 2007 after a lot of prayer, deliberation and listening to friends and critics alike - but mostly the Lord - we decided to back out of policy issues and our Director of Government Affairs took a position with another organization," Chambers told Ex-Gay Watch.
The first big test for Exodus is a divisive ballot initiative in Florida that aims to prohibit same-sex marriage and civil unions in the state's constitution. Exodus in based in Orlando and this battle will take place in the group's backyard - leading to the temptation to enter the political fray.
"If Exodus refrains from inserting itself into this brutal fight, it means that Chambers has backed up his rhetoric," said Besen. "If there is an Exodus presence in the Florida marriage battle, however, it will cause a great deal of disillusionment from people who wanted to believe that Chambers was honest and sincere."
TruthWinsOut.org also called on Exodus to abandon the practice of recruiting new members by using fear tactics and demeaning gay life. The group regularly calls homosexuality spiritual disfigurement, perversion and sexual brokenness - while, ironically, claiming to love gay people. Additionally, TWO hopes Exodus will stop using pseudo-science and pop psychology in its conversion efforts.
TruthWinsOut.org is a non-profit organization that counters right wing propaganda, exposes the "ex-gay" myth and educates America about gay life.

How quaint! In other words, they know they've lost the battle, so they have suddenly "heard from the Lord" that they should fold up shop and put their hateful political campaigns to rest. This reminds me of Al-Zarkowi, the terrorist who was water-boarded in Guantanamo Bay. The next day, he told all of his secrets, but only because "Allah came to (him) in a dream" in the middle of the night and told him so. Funny how people "hear from the Lord" when the chips go against them and they need to save face. However, if they are going to stop persecuting gay people, I'll take it any way they want to serve it up. OK, Alan, you heard from the Lord.

Why do these fundo types all look like Stepford wives with that painted on Jack Nicholson (as the Joker) smile? Chambers heard from the Lord huh. I wonder if he has the same drug dealer as Moses (calm down, just joking!) Gary (NJ)

I don't trust that lying bastard. One look at that queen and you know he has a dildo up his tunnel.
I have some questions then about their policy section of their website - opposing "thought crimes" http://exodus.to/content/view/34/118/
And I'd like a better explanation of their affiliations page http://exodus.to/content/view/30/57/
And perhaps a disclaimer on the top of this page

I have only just started with the proved diligence of Alan Chambers words and declaration.

Bill, I couldn't agree with you more.
After studying the way Alan Chambers works for some time, I've noticed two things about him that'll never change:
1 - He's a 2-faced liar, and a drama queen. Add to the fact that he's going to hell anyway, for bearing false witness on a daily basis.
2 - Both he and Randy Thomas are the same way in their "articles", or on TV: they'll make up all kinds of lies about gay people, and then when they get online, such as "ex-gay watch" forum, they'll change their story and say "I didn't say that, what I meant to say was......".
If they didn't mean to say it, then why did they say it in front of millions of people in the first place?
Sadly, the "ex-ex-gays" will then pucker up, and ass-kiss away to Alan and Randy.
Both of those guys are lunatics, and rotten to the core. Everyone associated with Exodus is, IMO.

The claim that people are born gay is itself pseudo-science. When are gay organizations going to stop using it?

The claim that people aren't born gay is itself pseudo-science, fabricated by the loony fringe of "christianity". When are nutball evangelical organizations going to stop using it?

It's the anti-gay movement, not the gay movement, that is obsessed over this issue of "born with it" - because they constantly accuse gays of not being born the way they are as an excuse to discriminate against them.
A better question is, in a free country, what would it even matter if gay people were "born that way"?
Religious people learn their religion, they aren't born with it. Yet religion is recognized as a protected, fundamental right.

"obsessed over this issue of "born with it""
Obsessed over "born with it" is barely scraping the surface.
Obsessed with bondage, obsessed with leather, obsessed with piss, and obsessed with a ton of other sick things which they accuse is exclusively something that gay people allegedly do.
It's bad enough that gay pornographer Peter LaBarbera goes around filming men having sex in bathhouses and leather/bondage events, edits his footage into a porn DVD, and then shows his latest porno off to everyone and their grandma, even making it available for children to watch.
