A state lawmaker who declared that homosexuality is a greater threat to the United States than terrorism said Monday that she received a standing ovation from her fellow Republican legislators Monday.
Rep. Sally Kern, R-Oklahoma City, said she has been barraged with more than 5,000 e-mails since she made national headlines over the weekend. Most of the communications were critical, and several contained language that Kern said she has never heard before.
The lawmaker related some of the e-mails to Republican caucus members in a closed meeting Monday. She later said the group gave her a standing ovation.
This is all you really need to know about the Republican Party. Now, think about this incident when you hit the voting booth in November. And, for all of you who think the parties are the same - remember that the Republican Party is the party of standing ovations for bigots and hooker customers who espouse family values, such as Sen. David Vitter. If Gov. Spitzer were a Republican, I suspect they would be cheering for him too.
UPDATE: A new report suggests that bitterness, not Bible-thumping may explain Kern's conspiratorial, lunatic fringe remarks. Queerty reports that Kern may have a GAY SON that she has disowned. If this is true, it shows what an awful mother she is and how family values mean nothing to her. She should join PFOX, so she can plot with other angry, jilted parents on how to reject their gay children on the name of religion and love.

Since we're worse than terrorists, we should fly a giant dildo into the Oklahoma City state house. How anyone with any conscience at all could vote for this scumbag party is beyond me.

Anonymous, whoever you really are, let me ask: Why do you always come to this board and leave such offensive messages? "Fly a giant dildo into the statehouse" and "Does Client 9 mean nine inches"??? Wayne spends a great deal of time and effort on this site, so maybe you should consider elevating your dialogue a bit to match his literary level. Or are you some fundamentalist crackpot who poses as a messed up gay person just to smear his work??

Oh lighten up, Chris - I'm sure he was just being sarcastic LOL. Quack Jim Phelan posts as anonymous here too nowadays, but I can tell this one isn't from him.
Supposedly her eldest son has been busted for cruising his campus library restroom for homosex, more than once. There's some interesting convo going on in Topix forums in which some people who went to school with the guy are ratting him out.
Good God, this is 2008! Gay men cruising public places is SO pre-internet. Only stupid fundies and married men do that crap LOL
Sally, get over it. If you have more than one kid, you still at least will get some grandchildren out of it, if that's your issue.

Scott, I'm just saying that everytime Wayne posts a new post, this guy comes on talking about "dildos", "is Client 9 for Nine inches" and a whole aray of low class comments. He is free to say what he wants, but it's funny how these trashy comments always show up the second Wayne posts. I think he's trying to sully the site, seriously.

Oh ok, I guess I wasn't paying much attention and didn't notice that before. If that's the case, you may be right.
Will keep that in mind for future ref., thanks Chris!

So she clings to her false beliefs to the point of destroying her relationship with her son. She's really a sad and pathetic woman.

She is a bitter and pathetic woman who has lost her child. I can think of no greater loss - especially this one since it is at her own hand and disownment.
She may have rec'd applause on that day but tomorrow follows still. I pity her on her day of reckoning.

If her son is gay then I feel sorry for him because I know what he's going through. My extremely homophobic mother and my Southern Baptist pastor father threw me out and disowned me when I came out in Mississippi. It took a number of years but they've both come around and now are fully supportive of me, my husband and our family.
If my parents were able to finally "get it" then there is hope for Sister Sally to overcome her Oklahomaphobia.
I didn't do the bathroom sex thing. I've never quite understood that particular taste in sexual expression.
