Former Rep. Bob Barr (R-GA) who helped author the Defense of Marriage Act, says he is now sorry and will work towards DOMA's repeal.
Good for Barr. It takes a big person to apologize.
For those who don't remember, he squared off on TV against former Human Right's Campaign Executive Director Elizabeth Birch. In a classic moment, she looked at him and said, "Which marriage are you defending - your first, your second, or your third?"

Sure, Barr has apologized but I think it's only because he wants to shift responsibility to the states. And he's running for president on the Libertarian ticket! I don't trust the man. Under the guise of Libertarianism, he's saying the federal government shouldn't be involved--but it's ok for states to say who can and cannot get married. Isn't this against everything Libertarians stand for? Sorry Bob, unless you work your ass off to personally repeal DOMA and work for equal treatment of all relationships, apology NOT accepted by this queen.

Ditto. He is, as far as i know, only apologizing for DOMA because he sees it (now) as a state's rights issues. It's funny how stdate's rights only are expressed by conservaitve republicans when it agrees with their already deifnedp ositons.

Barr is not to be trusted.
He is as big a public menace as Newt although probably smarter, but not by much.
I think he's just towing the party line as usual, but now it's a different party, with different values.
Gay bashing works for Republicans. Doesn't work (as well) for most Libertarians.
He's an opportunistic scumbag and I think he's only doing this for votes, not because he genuinely sees what he did wrong.
