Ellen is amazing. Her interview with John McCain was brilliant and right to the point. Poor McCain looked so uncomfortable - as if he knows he is wrong and must parrot "marriage is between one man and one woman" to appease the GOP base.

Maybe I'm being a little too hopeful, but it seems to me that the days of being pious are numbered.
And beings McCain represents the party whose slogan might as well be "It's not about our country, it's about YOUR bedrooms!", he doesn't stand a chance.
Being pious and worrying about homosex won't protect us from terrorists, and McCain is unfit to even work at Condom Sense - much less run this country.

I haven't watched the interview. but i suspect ellen was easy on him.
the questions must be, without let-up:
What will you do to help gay people protect their relationships and their fmailies if you are not going to allow lehgal recognition through marriage?
how do you justify the position that a hetero couple in michigan last week can get health insurance, but a gay couple together for 25 years cannot? ewhat will you do about that?
how do you address this issue: if my partner goes to the hospital, and i don't have his power of attonrney papers in my hands, I have no legal right even to be in the same room, much less make the decsions that we have agreed to make for each other?
If you do not offer legal recognition to gay families, what will you do to protect the children of gay people with such items as helath insurance, legal responsibility, and so forth?
Virginia's anti-marriage law forbids even contractual arrangements that approximate marreiage. So legal contracts are no protection. what will you do?
If you give the bastards legal wiggle room, they ewill wiggle.
