YEAAAAAA! I'm proud of my fellow librarian. If I were she, I would have gone back in and been taken to jail. Making a news story out of this was the dumbest thing the McLame campaign could have done; but no one said fascism was particularly bright. Gary (NJ)

Yes, and the 4th amendment will be gutted today when our worthless congresspersons kiss bush's ass yet again and pass the 'new' fisa bill.

The police should be fired. The city should be sued for doing what the secret service who represent a republican candidate says instead of what the law says. Did you notice the police placed blame on the McCain employee who placed blame on the Secret Service. This will be dropped only because it was on video. But you are right America is definitely under assault by the right wing. Just take a look how Rachael Muldow has femmed herself up so she can have a spot on MSNBC. The police do this because Judges allow it. I hope someone is going to follow her right through trial on camera. Did she file her own complaint of harassment and an array of other charges that she can prove? I hope so. I also thank her for being strong in the face of terrorism at hands of the state.

and lets not forget the police make damn good money doing this to citizens. They are a DISGRACE. They must be addressed in a court of law with a jury for all to witness.

I had a similiar experience last January (2007) when I went to Washington DC to march with Jane Fonda and Susan Sarandon along with tens of thousands of Anti-War Protestors against the Iraq War.
I was carrying an anti-war sign back to Union Station to catch my train back to Atlanta and upon entering Union Station the DC Police as well as the Union Station Security were quick to inform anyone with a sign that we had to turn it over or hide it or it would be confiscated and if we did not comply we would be arrested.
I was told that Union Station was not a public facility and that management would not tolerate any anti-war signage on the premises.
I continued to carry my sign, albeit turned over -- but I was harassed multiple times by police before I boarding my train.
I was under the impression that Union Station was in fact a public facility - subsidized by my tax dollars.
You must get arrested to prove it in a court of law. And if you carry it that far they will either drop it or convict knowing that it takes time and more money to appeal. The system is broken because of the judges. Nobody wants to address that. They would rather we all blame the police like employees who band together and bitch about a manager. That way the manager has working employees not at each others throats. the Judges are the reason the police violate the law. the Judges must be confronted. Committing illegal acts does not fall under immunity.
