Openly gay Australian diver Matthew Mitcham won a gold medal after his string of perfect 10's recorded this highest scoring dive in Olympic history. Put this beautiful diver on the Wheaties Box now or the Australian version, Kangaroo Crunch!

Honestly, I'd be annoyed if straight media announced, "Hot Asian Girls Sweep Gymnastics" why should we hold you to a lower standard Wayne?

That's awesome news. Stuff like that makes a big difference in the way gays are perceived (and ultimately recognized as part of society) in a significant way.

Well done, Matthew, he makes us all proud! He's more than good enough to represent and win a gold for his country, but not good enough to receive his full equality.

To the first commenter:
I like this site because it has news and entertainment. It is fun to read. I also like to see and hear about hot guys that I want to do.
I suggest you should loosen up and stop being such a politically correct tight ass. If you have a problem with sexy swimmers, then go read The Economist.
With all due respect dude, you are a total buzz kill.
Yeah, David, this is Wayne's blog, not a mouthpiece for some mythical, monolithic "gay media".
And why is harmlessly expressing human sexuality a "lower standard"?
You've absorbed far too much guilt and sexual insecurity, I think you need a Christianectomy.
...
So, does anyone ever bring this stuff up to those kooky ex-gays who try to "cure" gay men by teaching them sports? Do they ever have an answer?

Hey, there are Christians who love hot men. (Many are involved with ex-gay "ministry" and don't admit their love, but that's another story for another time.) But let's not bash all the Christians -- some of them are here and are huge fans of Wayne and gay equality. And some of us are queer too!!!!!
I can get the guy's message, though -- if you're used to serious subjects (and Wayne's stuff usually is serious in tone), the change in tone can be off-putting to some. Vive le difference! (And the Economist is pretty damn cool too.)
What irks me about this isn't calling Mitcham hot (because he is way hot, not that that does *me* any good, being 1) married and 2) primarily into women, lol) but that NBC, fast to show us all about the families of the other athletes, did NOT show Mitcham and his partner and family -- who were visibly there and were captured on video now available on YouTube. Neither did the mainstream media outlet mention that his partner was able to get to Beijing because of a FAMILY grant that helped bring family members -- including gay partners -- to see their loved ones perform at the Games. Now *that* would have been infinitely more interesting than the umpteenth piece on Debbie Phelps' devotion to her swimming phenom son or the status of Michael's flirtation with a girl Aussie gold medal swimmer. Why not tell Mitcham's story too -- and about the family that loved and supported him all the way to China?
I say we write NBC and call them on their homophobia and cowardly censorship.
And congrats to Matthew Mitcham and Michael Phelps and all the athletes (with added kudos to Matthew and the nine other out Olympians, according to OutSports.com). We appreciate courageous athletes of all orientations, even on an aesthetic level.
