A Public Policy Institute of California poll shows a majority of likely voters, 54 percent, oppose ending gay marriage, compared with 40 percent who support it. The result is similar to the findings of a Field Poll in July, which found that 51 percent of likely California voters opposed ending gay marriage, while 42 percent said they supported it.
But when it comes to general attitudes about gay marriage, voters in the Public Policy Institute poll are evenly split, at 47 percent for and against as they have been for the past three years.

Of course the rightwingers, including some of the trolls who post here, are saying that Califorinians are "overwhelmingly opposed to gay marriage rights". They lie so much, I think they have actually come to believe their own bullshit; but that's what happens when you've been drinking the kool-aid for the past 8 years.

The right-wingers have a small view of the world. When they say that "everyone in California" supports the amendment, they are referring to their family and friends. They simply do not have the ability to look outside the small circle which is their universe, which is actually much tinier than they realize.

I'm confident that proposition 8 will not succeeded. Even Gov. Schwarzenegger said he will oppose it. I'm afraid the christo fascists are wasting their money on this one.

Conservative Christians in general have a limited view of what goes on around them. I've seen this close up. I wonder, though, how prop 8 will do. Although, I'm not comfortable with judges deciding the law - I agree with their decision. And again, I do not agree with their decision making process. Gays should be allowed to get married - period. Gays are people, too.
I won't accept pederasty as morally correct and won't support a marriage or lowering the legal age of consent (if it is between a much older and younger man - under the age of 18) But gays who are of similar mind should have the same right as do I. Hec, I should have the right to marry someone of my own gender if I so chose. Hahahaha

Mainline Protestants, Evangelicals, Roman Catholics, and Mormons are all working together much more closely than they did when Prop. 22 was on the ballot. Even Jews, Muslims, Sikhs and Hindus are joining in to pass Prop. 8.
Memo to the Lavender Brigade - brace yourself for another defeat. And with a McCain victory coming, we'll get another stack of quality judges.
