Our nation faces huge challenges, particularly with energy dependence on foreign oil. Unfortunately, John McCain is stuck in the past and his only "solution" is. "drill, drill, drill," when we all know what he really means is "shill, shill, shill" for Big Oil.
How could anyone vote for McCain and his backward policies after eight years of Bush? It is truly mind-boggling.

And here I thought oil was sold in a world market. But apparently, if we let oil companies drill off our shores, all that oil will magically flow directly into our own country?

And um... I sure hope those "alternative" energy technologies pan out eventually, or...
But wait, isn't oil a renewable resource? We can always make more dinosaurs and crush their fossilized remains into more oil, right?

Oil is going to run out. Period. There's no other way to say it. It will be gone, and not in 500 years. Even if we open up every single reserve in every part of the world, it will run out, and very quickly. Alternative energy is needed. Maybe it will take "decades" to find but it WILL be found if we search for it. And we need to search for it.

Wayne, my parents and many in their generation like this woman. They adore the fact she is a mother of five, a mother of a special needs child, a working mother like they were, a successful woman in public service. There are many personal aspects of this woman that we would be raving about if she was a democrat. Some people believe she has the right to be anti choice and it will not personally effect them because if they ever found themselves to be pregnant they, too, would not think of aborting. I do not like her politics personally but she is likeable by many many people already. That cannot be denied. People exercise their right to vote for all sorts of reasons and this one is valid in their minds.

hello folks, i think this post emphasizes how much attention we pay to one issue, cheap energy in particular, when there are so many other thing that spring from that and are separate altogether that need dire attention. I hope this election is based on more than just single voter topics. Whatever anyone thinks about what was said by Wayne, his last statement regarding the past eight years and the frightening legacy is leaves is nothing short of TRUE.

You're an environmental (religious) zealot. Today, one of the most powerful religions in the Western World is environmentalism.
You have it all. You have an initial Eden, a paradise, a state of grace and unity with nature, there's a fall from grace into a state of pollution as a result of eating from the tree of knowledge, and as a result of our actions there is a judgment day coming for us all. We are all energy sinners, doomed to die, unless we seek salvation, which is now called sustainability. Sustainability is salvation in the church of the environment. Just as organic food is its communion, that pesticide-free wafer that the right people with the right beliefs, imbibe.
And facts aren't necessary for you, because the tenets of your religion of environmentalism are all about belief. It's about whether you are going to be a sinner, or saved. Whether you are going to be one of the people on the side of salvation, or on the side of doom. Whether you are going to be one of us, or one of them.
Why is your religion so harmful? Because we need sound environmental policies not within the clutches of your religious zealotry. We need to return it to a scientific discipline. We must institute far more stringent requirements for what constitutes knowledge in the environmental realm. I for one am thoroughly sick of politicized so-called facts that simply aren't true - "facts" you peddle and promote that aren't true. It isn't that these "facts" are exaggerations of an underlying truth. Nor is it that certain organizations are spinning their case to present it in the strongest way. Not at all - what you and more and more groups are doing is putting out is lies, pure and simple. Falsehoods that you and they KNOW to be false.
This trend began with the DDT campaign, and it persists to this day. At this moment, the EPA is hopelessly politicized. We should shut it down completely. If we're going to have a federal agency in this area, then we need one that will be ruthless about acquiring verifiable results, that will fund identical research projects to more than one group, and that will make everybody in this field get honest fast.
