The main reason not to vote for McCain is his obnoxious verbal tick of saying, "My Friends." every six seconds. Can you imagine having to hear this for 4 years? It's enough to drive anyone nuts!
As far as the debate - Obama won. McCain stalked around looking angry with a creepy, forced laugh. It was not a huge win for Obama, but once again he looked presidential, while McCain just looked bitter and desperate, with one attack after another. And that's the truth, "My friends."

Rolling Stone has an excellent article in this week's issue. It's called "Make Believe Maverick." It isn't a hit job, but if you want to know who John McCain really is, minus the fairy tales, it is, hand's-down, the best I've read on him anywhere.

Ugh. Between "my friends" and Palin's whining and inability to use the letter G at the end of words... Someone on the radio likened Palin's voice to the machine at Home Depot that copies keys. That's about right.
I thought McCain looked like a lost old man, the way he wandered around while Obama was speaking. And during the questioning, when McCain answered the question after Obama, he appeared to take part of his answers from Obama's answers.
The ones that worship stupid do so because they ARE stupid. How else can you explain a ticket that mocks people who read the NY Times and enjoy the finer things in life? Those folk don't vote on the issues, they're cultural voters, the type that want someone in office who (pretends) to be what they are: "Joe/Jane six-pack" clowns who make fun of the NY Times even though they've never read it, don't have a passport and don't want one, and mock people who have elevated themselves (drumroll...) above THEM. It's like class warfare but different, kind of like "intellectual warfare". These folks hate politicians who remind them how stupid they are.

Unfortunately, many of those who do not wish to improve themselves intellectually or culturally seem to flock to the Republican Party. They really canot see that those in control of the Repugs have nothing but contempt for them, but only act as if they are in their corner.
It is a sad comment on how culturally and intellectually stagnant this country is becoming. Thus, IMO, the rise of all of these "reality" programme. They cater to the lowest common denominator and so do the Republicans.
