Conservatives Setting The State For Violence?

One day after State Senator John Campbell announced he is going to introduce a gay marriage bill this legislative session, Campbell received a threat.

The Windsor County Democrat says he got a call at the Statehouse from a woman who threatened to blow up his house.Police are investigating the threat.

Where are all the conservatives who complained about the "violence" in the largely peaceful gay rallies? Why aren't they up in arms about this?

And what about the hinting-at-violent threats made today by Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families. He said that the California Supreme court is, "playing with fire by threatening to destroy the people's vote on marriage." And that "if the court disobeys the constitution by voiding Prop. 8, it will ignite a voter revolt."

So, if the court does its duty and protects a minority from discrimination, what kind of "revolt" and "fire" does the fanatical fringe have planned?

Maybe the extreme right wing will start burning the American flag, since they so obviously hate this country and its guarantee of equality for all. These anti-American types obviously have strong, violent disagreements with the Constitution. I guess when you suffer from that particular delusion of grandeur which causes you to conflate your prejudices and bigotries with the will of the Almighty, you develop this kind of rage when people have the audacity of disagreeing with you and your holy assertions.

The problem with the right wing is that none of them really believe there is a separation of church and state and that's why they use propositions, initiatives such as type H8 to enforce those beliefs on the rest of us. It is at the root of DOMA in the other 29 or 30 states. In a way, those states now have theocratic constitutions. Obama will be in for a big showdown if he tries to shoot it down, I wish him luck.

This threatening of people who do something of which they don't approve shows the ugly face of their hypocrisy. We have a demonstration and they start to scream "Persecution!" However, it apparently IS OK to threaten the lives and property of those with whom you disagree. What's up with that, huh?

The more I hear of the fundies, the happier I am to be a Pagan.

Robert is one hundred percent right. The Religious Wrong believes that the US does not have separation of Church and State, or it there is a separation, that is not the way it is supposed to be (in their opinion anyway).

I hope people start to wake up and see who the real perpetrators of violence are.

Senator Campbell said that the bill would need Governor Douglass' support. The Governor said he will not support it. I think he should go ahead anyway and try.
