Wayne, I love to visit your blog and I really enjoy your posts. I also want to say that I don't like Sarah Palin, John McCain or their policies. I voted for Obama. That being said, I really don't like this video. I've known too many women (and a few men) who have been battered by their husbands/wives/boyfriend/significant other, etc. who would have this happen to them simply for saying that dinner would be late. Though I was never physically abused myself, when the hit came, I got chills. I guess it doesn't help that less than a month ago a family member committed suicide in part because of years of being battered. I guess that makes me rather sensitive on the subject right now. Just try to look at the video through the eyes of a battered person. I think this is a bad video with a bad message. Sorry.

I find this video and your choice to post it truly offensive.

This video was funny, in my view. It seems like slapstick, not real abuse. I respect your opinions, but I disagree with you.

Oh give me a break; this wasn't in the least bit related to or advocating the battering of women. I thought it was very, very funny. It's kinda like laughing at the coyote going over the cliff and then being accused of wanting to hurt animals; it is a BIT of a stretch.

I understand that some will view this as slapstick comedy which can be fairly violent at times. I understand the message the person who made the video is trying to convey about the possible "dislike" between the two candidates, especially Sarah Palin (as well as perhaps the idea that McCain may be an abuser himself since there is evidence that he has at least verbally abused his wife). I also understand my view of the video may be tainted by recent life experiences. However, I do stand by what I said above. The two characters in that video are not cartoon characters. They are real people, no matter how much we may dislike them as people. I see nothing funny in showing physical violence against another person. Again, my own personal opinion, and I'm sure there will be many who disagree. I respect your opinion as well.

having worked with HIV folk in a hospice in Portland set up primarily for indigent/homeless folk for over 6 years, I came to know of personal stories of abuse of these folk, abuse that was carried out by both partners and family, I object to violence. having spent another 5 years as a sexual health educator for Planned Parenthood and also an HIV educator, I met many folk who were victims of same-sex domestic violence and sexual assault. I object to violence. These images only perpetuate the power that is used in relationships, being it hetero or homo. . .
violence and the threat of violence is very real in the lives of many GLBT folk. there. there is my opinion

I experienced domestic violence when I was a child, and I didn't associate this video with domestic violence. However, I didn't think it was even slightly funny either.

The video was funny and no, it in no way advocates violence against women. I'm all for being respectful and even somewhat PC but please, there comes a point when it becomes toxic and frankly Rusty has gone there. Have we truly become so pathetic a species that any kind of humour must now be suspect? if so, I want off this ride because I've seen too much to be worked up by something this trivial.
